Dany forgot about the iron fleet

Recommended Posts

When you can't actually write a good story, you end up with illogical nonsense like this as a last ditch attempt to rectify what you want to happen on the screen. Daenerys only "forgot" about the Iron Fleet because the plot demanded it/the script said so.

Stuff like this is why this episode is the by far most hated episode in the entire series. There is just so much stuff that doesn't make a lick of sense in this episode (be it how characters suddenly behave out of character/like idiots, or stuff like the Scorpions who are suddenly more powerful and accurate than modern guns), that can't really be explained in any way other than "the script said so".

I can't even..this explains everything.

You're hearing the thoughts of a genius and one of the hottest producers in the industry, do NOT question him or the plot, which is well thought out and all logical.....

The only interesting thing there is that he seems to think that Dany 'forgetting' about the fleet that has already inflicted serious damage on her forces twice is totally reasonable, he's blase.  He's not even trying, he's so distanced from the story he doesn't even seem to recognize how awful this statement is.

Yeah D&D stopped caring the moment they struck that Star Wars-deal with Disney, and it really shows this season.

One additional year of time to prepare the last season and a bigger budget than ever won't be of any use what so ever if the writers themselves are bored and totally uninterested in finishing the project to begin with.

After this season I really think they should be fired from SW. This is just too bad and SW need to distance themselves from this shit writting...

I've come to suspect that extra year was for something else, to get a head start on SW, or something, I've been calling them hacks for years, but they HAVE written good scenes in the past, good dialogue, their battles have always been iffy, but never this blatantly dumb, so I don't believe they spent 2x the time on this season, the writing is so sloppy and bad I could easily believe they threw these scripts together in a matter of a few, very few weeks, they have the feel of an early draft that needs revisions and polishing, not something where the writer spent twice the normal amount of time on it.

His explanation is a pure insult to the viewer. Not only is it ridiculous that Dany would forget about the army she was specifically going there to fight, all of her advisors forgot too!!!!

The scene was just to make Euron important because there is no sensible reason for him to be involved. Any sensible battle strategy would just avoid the water and completely nulify his naval threat.

The writing is now so disrespectful to the characters and the fans who have got to know and understand them over ten years. We can no longer predict what a character will do based on their personality now. We genuinely can only predict what a character will do based on what D&D want them to do.

She hasn't forgotten the Iron Fleet.

Varys told her that they had arrived in Kings Landing with the Golden Fleet. And this is where she expects them to be.

Since Cersei knows (theoretically) that they are all In Winterfell, there is no reason for her to expect them in Dragonstone. She expects a direct attack to the city, as Jon suggests, with the Iron Fleet trying to smuggle food in the capital.

But Cersei expected them at Dragonstone. How did she know they would go there first? And more importantly: when?

Brienne spoke of an ambush.

Because that's Tyrion's plan, he said that in the war council and told Bronn when they were going to sail.

D&D simply trolled us. It's all in the movie. ;)

Even if we play with the idea that Daenerys actually actually forgot about the Iron Fleet (as preposterous as it is), it still wouldn't explain how two flying dragons got ambushed by a fleet of ships on a clear day, nor does it explain how Qyburns Scorpions are more accurate and powerful than modern guns.

It isn't the most hated episode... yet. Right now, that title's held by Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken (the one with the Sand Snakes' wimpy fight and Sansa's marriage and subsequent rape by Ramsay).

That's another kettle of fish.

We'll never know how modern guns would be effective against moving dragons. But in fantasy, and we'd better remember that GOT is fantasy, not sic-fi nor reality, to each grave threat there's an antidote, or an out-clause. Always. No-one is absolutely invincible, only the gods.

Achilles was pretty invulnerable except for the heel, and this is how Paris, not the greatest warrior but a fair archer, got him.

So it was for Lord of the Rings, so it is for any fantasy vidiogame, so it is for GOT.

Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken has an IMDB-rating of 8,1
The last of the Starks has an IMDB-rating of 6,4.

UUU was the most hated episode and had the lowest rating, it no longer does.

I was going by Rotten Tomatoes. Last of the Starks has 56%, UUU has 54%.
