If anything, Euron Greyjoy is an argument against an elective absolute monarchy. But no. I think Euron is steadily going to move away from the evil pirate king territory of "lolz this dude is nuts" to the territory of the "ZOMG holy shit he is Satan in human flesh" evil sorcerer king Cersei, Aeron, Victarion, Samwell, Asha, Connington are all likely to contribute to or witness his rise to power.
