The petition is supposed to be disrespectful. Not towards the actors but towards the showrunners because the showrunners disrespected and insulted both the audiences and the actual story.

All of the actors should know that they are not really the target of the frustration.

No one has had an issue with the acting, writing or the special effects this season. Sure, there have been minor directorial and production-based issues. But the issue has been solely with the writing.

Oh Bryan Cogman to do LotR on Amazon? If so, I sure hope he won’t be the “lore expert” and “true fan” as he was (supposed to be) on GoT. Yes, Sansa Poole, I mean you, and many other things.

And by the by, still no Outside the Episode to be found anywhere. Damn it. I really needed David and Dan to explain this atrocity to me. Oh well...

Gods, the Episode 5 showing "Oh Sh*t!" or whatever, while Dany burned KL had a bunch of D&D literally admitting 180 degree character flips and other bullshit during the episode.  Infuriating, but also incriminating.

Did she lie?  I don't know.  I don't have cable.  However, if she does write Jaime's deeds in the White Book; then it will be to remove the stain of Aery's killing from Jaime's name, at the very least.  I don't know WTF D&D were doing but GRRM will handle it differently.

Oh definitely! But yeah, she kind wrote some bs to make him look better [than he deserved]. And I say this as Jaime’s # 1 fan. :crying:

If grrm is one of the writers I don t know if it is good r bad publicity.

A lot of people that care about grrm work just want him to finish the books. Seing him so involved in another project might not be well acepted...

I think he just consulted with the writer on the pilot or proposal, iirc?  And, that consult would have already been done?  GRRM was still getting production credit in GOT, and we all know he had nothing to do with the show since S4.

Are we sure this video is offically an HBO GOT one?  The site isn't the same as regular GOT site on youtube.

In regards to Dant, Drogon and burning the throne. I always got the feeling that with a warg the animal and the human kind of imprinted parts of their personality and nature on each other. We see that with the Starks and their wolves.  It wouldn't surprise me if the Targaryens had similar relationships with their dragons.

So Drogon had a little bit of Dany in him and I could see that part reacting with rage and hate towards the Iron Throne.

I just checked that GoT petition and it is almost 1.5 million signers.  Say what you want about the value or worth, a million and a half people (almost) have put their names on it.  That is a lot of disappointed, angry people.

And there needs to be more. I don't expect HBO to actually go ahead and remake it, I just want them - and especially Disney - to see how terribly D&D fucked up. Which is why I signed.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is our chance to ACTUALLY make our voices heard.  The petition, while a statement, won't be noticed by anyone but the intern assigned to write the rebuttal to it.  Not watching the upcoming show will, however, be noticed.  Don't watch it, don't buy the box sets, and don't support the merchandising.  The only thing that matters to media companies is views and dividends.  Don't provide them.

Very much true, though a bit of preaching to the choir on my part :-)

Probably got a PR team and told them to shut up :lmao: Better late than never.

I sure hope so, and if that PR team exists, they should talk to the actors, as well. The likes of the below have the potential of going The Last Jedi on the fans, and that worked oh-so-well for Disney, right?

Kit should quickly move onto another role, that "you know nothing" part seems to be rubbing on him. The petition never criticised the actors, solely the writing. Dany the Mad Queen could have been a wonderful tragic arc that made us bawling like babies, just like Ned's execution or the Red Wedding.

I felt the same way. From everyone else's perspective (except, I guess, for Yara, who forgot she was promised independence...and the new Dorne guy was a cardboard cutout, so who knows what he thinks), Jon is the true king and saved the realm from a usurper who had just incinerated the largest city in Westeros along with its civilian populace...so why is the usurper's military leader (who would be isolated in a city that was just turned to ash at this point) in a position to dictate anything except exchanging his prisoners for free passage to Essos?

It really bothered me that

1) Someone didn't stand up and give a speech to the effect that "We already have a king. His name is Aegon Targaryen, the Sixth of His Name, blah blah, now release him to us or face the full fury of the Seven Kingdoms." (Dick joke optional) Everyone who seemed to think Jon had the best claim and was such a superior choice to sit on the throne an episode and a half ago suddenly threw him under the bus really quickly, and it's hard to tell if this was because Bran and/or Sansa really didn't care about him and wanted the power for themselves all along, or just another example of lazy D&D writing...

2) In any case, there was zero reason not to bring Jon back from his exile the instant Grey Worm's ships disappeared on the horizon...it's not like he's going to be coming back to ensure the sentence was carried out as agreed upon.

The fact that Grey Worm kept Jon as prisoner and didn't execute him automatically is what bothered me. Why negotiate? Unsullied don't get intimidated by being out numbered. They manned the front line against the Night King's forces while the Northern armies were running in retreat. And I'm not sure if they were out numbered. Assuming everyone lost 50% of their troops as stated in episode 4 that still leaves the Unsullied and Dothraki with more than the North.

2) Letting Jon come back after agreeing to banish him in front of all the representing powers would mean Bran's word isn't worth jack.

I cringed the fuck outta my body when Arya said "you speak about executing my brother again I will cut your throat" or whatever the fuck. My eyes rolled so far on the back of my head I thought they weren't coming back.

Yes, that's what I was referring to.  But the rest of your post I find confusing because on the one hand you're suggesting we probably shouldn't believe them (D&D) and on the other hand you're saying yes, that's the way it was always going to go that way, so there's no reason not to believe them.

I didn't think it was going to go that way even though the reader had been prepped to consider it.

I think I got it now. Maybe? You didn’t think she was going to burn at all, regardless of who bbqs her, is that it?

I was only saying that the Ds said Martin told them she will burn, not who will do it.

The ending of GOT was like:

Tyrion: "I've made a lot of bad choices. I used to be smart, but I realize now that I'm not.  I followed a person who was clearly evil, dazzled by her glamour. Not only that, I gave said person bad advice, over and over again. I mean, it's not like I was actively sabotaging her. I loved her, truly. I'm just not that smart anymore. And I was wrong about Cersei too, back when I thought she would send troops north. I'm just not a good judge of character after all. I've made terrible mistakes."

The lords: "That's okay, dude. Just tell us who should be king."

At last the Galaxy Quest Game of Thrones historical documents are complete! I was expecting to be salty AF, but instead I'm strangely unperturbed. I won't list every single incongruity I noticed. Most of these have been pointed out already. I'll hit some of my personal highlights.

First thing is that the Continuity Fairy and Set Management Fairy were not appeased by the traditional offerings of barista coffee and bottled water, and they took their revenge accordingly. The passage of time is stretched, compressed, stretched again. Time for luxuriant beard growth, the forging of Sam's maester's chain, and the refitting & chandlering of a couple-or-three fleets. Time for Jon to journey back to the Wall. A relaxing vacation for the remaining Dothraki & Unsullied before they depart for points south. Hasn't done Grey Worm much good; he looks like he's had a bad "bowl o'brown" and his bowels are giving him no end of grief. A lovely embroidered coronation gown for Sansa. (I want one of those!) The Weirwood Grove Restoration Project, of which that green shoot in the snow north of the Wall is but a tiny harbinger.

The stupidification of Westerosi politics is complete! We began in Season One with Eddard Stark listening carefully to all available points of view - no bannerman, maester or castellan exempt - then making his ruling. How dull is that? Shut up, Sam! Sit down, uncle, we don't need no steenking speeches. "I say Bran should do it, since he doesn't want to." "Okay, meh, sure, whatevs, yeah." And the last scion of Houses Targaryen and Stark is "exactly where [he] is supposed to be" - locked up in a cell. Send him north with instructions never to sire any children. The north part has gone (more or less) as planned, but good luck with the "sire no children" part. The Small Council needs to work on its unison chanting. The Northmen have that shit down pat.

In a bold move toward neurodiversity, Westeros has chosen its first autistic monarch! (That we know of. The prequels may shed more light, if we bring ourselves to watch them.)

Bro-dudes rule! No, my ears did not deceive me: Tyrion actually did say, "I know you love her. I love her too. Not as successfully as you." This explains much and more about Tyrion's utter incompetence as Daenerys's Hand - he was trying to figure out how to get into her pants the whole time. And Bronn, how we love thee! Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to provide secure employment for indentured sex workers. Oh, and never to allow anyone in your presence to speak a complete sentence.

Brienne and the White Book of the Kingsguard. Leafing through it... Ser Duncan the Tall, Ser Arthur Dayne, Ser Barristan Selmy... ah, here we are - Ser Jaime Lannister. Oh look, Barristan's name is misspelled. And Tyrion is there on the record as Joffrey's assassin. To her credit, Brienne doesn't fudge the truth too much. And my, her penmanship is tidy. Makes you wonder, though, exactly how reliable these "historical documents" really are. For all we know, Tyrion paid Maester Ebrose to keep schtum. Could be he's prescient enough to realize that renown leads to ridiculous memes?

Speaking of memes, I absolutely adore!! PoMo Drogon.

Agreed. Now, waiting for the last 2 books to be finished and then remaking the whole thing from the start (with someone who understands and loves the source material at the helm)? That I could get behind.

I tried to make a subject on this called 'Game of Thrones: Brotherhood', but apparently that was deleted by mods. It's weird, because it was one of my less vitriolic subjects.

I was so looking forward to it, to see David and Dan explain this steaming pile of shit and give us their invaluable insights.

They're genuinely my favourite parts of the show because whatever stupid shit happens in the show, they always reliably make it stupider.
