No protests here, nonono. Just ... cleansing my vocal chords. Yes. That's it.

Without oil. No oil at all involved.

I bet it's those perfidious Swedes making up stories again. Or maybe those shifty Danes.

Someone in the NBA thread wondered if Trump would invite a ‘foreign’ NBA championship team to the White House.

I don’t think so. Teach those bastards to leave the USA! Sad!

I’m actually expecting him to announce the steel and aluminum tariffs are going back on. Or that 5% tariffs on cars built in Canada will start, going up 5% a month until Canada gives back the NBA championship they stole.

There's oil on the moon you say? Seems the moon needs a health dose  of freedom too!

Someone tell him the game was invented by a Canadian, he might try to rename it Freedom Ball.

Dems -- right.  Among moderators for the first candidates' debate is “Noticias Telemundo” and “NBC Nightly News Saturday” anchor José Díaz-Balart, the son of Batista's right-hand bagman.  So useful, as, see: currently Miami's city council introduced legislation to make any interaction with Cuban artists a crime because it props up the Cuban communist dictatorship, as they are apparatchiks of the Cuban communist regime (but, of course, Russians are the *rum*'s best friends, and that's terrific!).

https://www.local10.com/news/local/miami/miami-commission-makes-moral-statement-against-cuban-artists

Ya, they have to act fast because all evidence -- tickets sales, reviews, etc. -- show how much Miami and everywhere else loves Cuban music made by Cuban musicians.  Can't have that!  Art -- terrible!  Russian yachts and Russia buying Cuba -- good!

Also, seeing more speculations that he won't leave the white house even if unelected or convicted of law breaking.  (Which places such as the Washington Examiners says is the most ridiculous conspiracy theory yet!) What happens then?  Why -- nothing.

He breaks the law, announces he does, is proven to, every single day.  And nothing happens.  The Dems, instead, suck up to the family of a Batista bag man. That's no way to enforce any rule of law.  Well, rule of law is clearly over -- unless, of course, one is not a rich white person.

What do polls and debates and elections even mean in this context of no enforceable law for the law breakers, beyond providing a screen upon which to project pretense?

That's it.

We're invading Sweden. They need to stop this rumour-mongering!

Can't think of a more appropriate woman.

Now, now, Jace. We can’t rub it in Sothern’s faces that the main qualification for their elected officials is to be flat out liars. How else is GOP Jesus supposed to succeed?

Wow! National polling shows Warren has surged passed Sanders (the Bernie one), 18% v 13%!

Not sure what poll you're referring, but I think it's really curious that Warren and Sanders' numbers basically flipped in YouGov's polling in a week (which you can compare here).  Last week's had Bernie at 16, Warren at 11.  This week's has Warren at 16 and Bernie at 12 - with minimal movement from anybody else.  Maybe I've just been busy, but what the hell happened in the last week or so?

She's getting more attention in the media. That's the best I got for ya. Well that and the fact that Bernie isn't going to ever enjoy the support he got in 2016. But really, who cares. Bernie won 2016 in his own way. The policy debate has shifted significantly because of him.

So, this debate lottery seems to be more suspect than the NBA draft lottery.  The lineups:

Quote

The first night, Wednesday, June 26, will start at 9 pm ET and the candidates on stage will be: Sen. Cory Booker, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, former Rep. John Delaney, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, former US Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro, Rep. Tim Ryan, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee.

The lineup for the following night, June 27, also starting at 9 pm ET, will be: Sen. Bernie Sanders, Sen. Kamala Harris, former Vice President Joe Biden, South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Sen. Michael Bennet, author Marianne Williamson, Rep. Eric Swalwell, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, entrepreneur Andrew Yang, and former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper.

So you got 4 of the clear top 5 in one debate.  That...does not seem like a fair split.  Anyway, I agree with the link's "winners and losers" - Warren is both a loser cuz she doesn't get to confront Biden and a winner cuz she should get the most attention in her debate; Sanders is a winner cuz he won't have to share the "progressive" angle with Warren; and Beto, Booker, and Klobuchar are winners because their status should be elevated with that weaker lineup.  I think Harris can also potentially be a winner because she has the opportunity to go after Biden aggressively without sharing that role with Warren.

Meh, maybe I guess.  Seems more likely it's just noise.

At this point the elected officials don't even need to lie. Too many people down here don't even  bother listening to the news at all. Every 4 years they just show up to vote Republican because that was what their parents told them to do. God forbid they might actually have to think for themselves.
