Years and Years on the BBC

The new Russell T Davies' series following a family from north England into fifteen years in the future (last episode we were in 2028).  https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000539g

Very disturbing.  It takes current issues and extrapolates them into a grim believable dystopia, including a female Nigel Farage-esque Prime Minster (played brilliantly by Emma Thompson, who looks like she's having the time of her life!).

I tend to love RTD's characters, and he's great at ensembles.  It's a bit choppy, but the stories feel all-too-real and horrific.

It looks like we're doomed ...

Weird ending - bit Doctor Whoesque, really.  It's set up for a potential sequel with quite a few plot threads left dangling - but it works as a standalone miniseries too.

Loved Edith and Rosie's stands - that was a nice moment of triumph after the bleak drudgery.

Muriel's speech should be screened into every home on the planet.
