I assume that their avatars lacked ability to use cursed objects or ability to use that sword is limited only for those beings who had used enough character points to gain that ability :)

I never got over how underwhelming Joffrey's comeuppance played out.

Not really the death itself, but he never had that realization of what will happen to him or why. In fact he was basically doing what he enjoyed most up to that point: being a dick to everyone.

Tywin invaded Riverlands with almost 40 k men  (almost certainly most of available warriors in Westerlands) and so left very rich city and other very rich areas very weakly defended. Instead of raiding those easy targets Iron Born decided to raid huge swamp, 3 towers in very bad condition, some villages of very poor people and 2 minor castles (Torrhen's Square and Deepwood Motte). So they really tried to max their profits.

They would never be able to hold the Westerlands. The ironborn probably though Robb would be a terrible military commander, considering his age.

Balon's only mistake was declaring himself King. He should've attacked the North and declare his allegiance to either Joffrey or Renly, perhaps Stannis after Renly's death.

They could not really have hold North either. During next winter IB would have starved or left.

I assume that Westerlands and North has potential to raise as many soldiers. North is larger and people are poorer so it takes more time totally mobilize northmen than smaller and richer Westerlands. So in the long run some one could have raised armies strong enough to kick IB out of Northern soil.

Robb did not have time to wait "total mobilization" and so he could take with him only those troops that he could raise in time he had. So during IB invasion there should have been more potential soldiers left in the North than there was potential warriors in the west.

All of it not, but the west coast could be theirs if they accepted Joffrey as their king.

Only if Robb decided to make peace with the IT, and only if Balon kept claiming kingship. After Stannis's defeat the northern cause was clearly over.

Even if Balon accepted Joffrey as their King, the Ironborn would have been kicked out of the North. All it takes is a decent northern force under a decent commander, lets say the boltons alongside the ryswells and dustins, to kick the ironborn. Ironborn lack the discipline to fight in the mainlands.

In a pitched battle where the northmen are outnumbered 2:1 by the ironborn, I would easily say that the ironborn would lose.

Another thing is that Iron Born do not have heavy cavalry and they seem to still use shield wall instead of pikemen like armies in the "continent". So if they try to engage any army including heavy cavalry they would be in very bad situation.

Amen. When he told Cersei that he was going to tell Robert about everything, I wanted to slap him.

This would never happen. With the Crown's support the North would be obligated to accept whatever the King decided. And what do you mean with lack of discipline? The ironborn of old used to rule the entire of the Riverlands and most of the current Crownlands.

Doubt whoever controls the North would honour this agreement. Be it Roose Bolton or Robb, letting ironborn control the entire western coast of the North, would harm the legitimacy of both men. The Iron Throne wouldnt stop them, as long as they swear fealty to them, Tywin or Cersei wouldnt care less if two rebellious lords were at each others throats.

Ironborn are famously known for not using battle formations, they instead attack as a horde of berserk warriors wielding axes and swords, similar to the Vikings. Ironborn are more used to attacking cities and villages, henceforth battle formations are foreign to them. They are a sea people not a land people. They havent fought in a pitched battle since the days of the Hoare Kings, they lack cavalry and pikes. As soon as an Ironborn army lands in the mainland, they become an easy slaughter for the Westerosi cavalry. Rodrik cassel was able to break the ironborn shieldwall with what little cavalry he had available in ACOK.

Ironborn conquered the riverlands during a time when the riverlands was the italy of the renaissance era and Napoleonic wars. The Battleground for these great powers. They were able to keep control of the riverlands because it was very likely that the region was one of the least populated regions in Westeros, this is because of the constant wars that took place in the riverlands, involving many of the neighbouring kingdoms.
