But Dunk doesn't have explicity Valyrian features: just sun streaked blond hair. Brienne has straw-blond hair. We have no description of her father. And no physical description of Ser Elwin Tarth who trained recruits at CB for a while, before he died when the Wall was attacked by wildlings. People also forget that island people tend to display genetic drift - recessive genes are often more visible because the phenotype has a bigger chance at displaying itself. Megorova
Apparently, Seams and me are sources of that theory. Though it's not posted in its own thread, only here, from this post and further, in our discussion of this topic https://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php?/topic/150756-a-knight-of-the-seven-kingdoms-reread/&do=findComment&comment=8342957 And we kept discussing this possibility in other threads, such as "Wow, I never noticed that . . . ". Seams is sort of an expert of Dunk&Egg novels. I think, I have read somewhere Seams' analysis of similarities between Dunk and Daemon Blackfyre. Megorova
Here, same ideas (Dunk/Brienne connection, and in the last one Brienne/Targaryens (that supposedly she is descendant of Dunk and one of Egg's sisters, Rhae or Daella)) posted by other people back in 2014 - https://www.quora.com/Who-are-the-speculated-children-of-Ser-Duncan-the-Tall this one is from 2013 - https://www.reddit.com/r/asoiaf/comments/ykq36/spoiler_all_the_descendants_of_duncan_the_tall/ 2016 - https://www.elitedaily.com/entertainment/game-of-thrones-actual-heir-brienne/1508809 A lot of different people came to the same conclusion, that Dunk was somehow (though on how exactly it happened opinions very) bloodrelated to Targaryens. Those people made that conclusion, because in D&E novels there are clues, that point out to this possibility. Though, besides my own and Seams' I don't remember other people posting ideas, that Dunk is a Blackfyre, and that's how he is connected to Targaryens - thru Daemon I, not thru one of Egg's sisters. And that Dunk is specifically child of Daenerys Targaryen, is my own idea, based on Dunk's connection to water, Daenerys' Water Gardens, and that song of Golden Company, about Dornishman's wife that was bathing (i.e. Dornishman is Maron Martell, his wife is Daenerys Targaryen, and the one who had a taste of her is Daemon Blackfyre, and the song was possibly made by Bittertseel, after Daemon's death). Bael's Bastard
The drug crack. There is no hint, clue, or indication that Dunk has any Targaryen ancestry whatsoever. And the Tarths have recent known, not secret or speculated, Targaryen ancestry as indicated by TWOIAF.
