In spite of all the cheese and bacon and seasoning, all it tastes like is cauliflower and I don’t like cauliflower that much to enjoy that. I do love cauliflower cheese, but it must be hard to enjoy if you struggle with cauliflower. Did you cheese it up to the max? I have already roasted and puréed a pumpkin and I’m chilling the pie crust in the fridge Fragile Bird
HelenaExMachina
I love cauliflower, but it took a long time to get over the bad memories of my nanna cooking it for hours (literally, hours) until it was a tasteless beige mush when we would go other house for Sunday dinner when I was younger. But well cooked cauliflower seasoned well or used in the correct recipe is delicious. On 10/16/2021 at 7:08 PM, A Horse Named Stranger said: Picked up a 10kg bag of potatoes on monday. Why do I keep doing this to myself, apart from the fact, that it was too cheap to pass by. "what's, taters, precious?" "POH-TAY-TOES. Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew." Mash 'em indeed! The weather looks like winter will be here soon, so grilling while I still can. Cooking for four, I put a 12oz tenderloin double wrapped in bacon on the grill prepped with some melted butter, olive oil and sea salt and three skewers with a combination of two chicken breasts, one onion and one green pepper marinated in honey, soy sauce and lime juice for a few hours, served with some homemade Yukon gold mashed potatoes. No gravy this time, but it wasn't needed due to the better and juices from the other food. Wish I had cooked up some rolls to go with it. Mint chocolate ice cream was served for dessert. VigoTheCarpathian
Seared and slow cooked pork butt roast - liquid smoke, liquid aminos, garlic, apple cider, sage and onion. Served on a pub roll with coleslaw, splash of spicy bbq sauce and some late corn on the cob from the farmers market. DireWolfSpirit

Either way, last of the 10kg bag's gone now. I just hope there's not another bargain for a month. Personally, I prefer rice and pasta over potatoes. But like I said, it was too cheap to pass. cowolter
I did a recipe from the Bob's Burgers recipe book "A Good Manchego is Hard to Find" in bulk cause my gf had her friends over to our place The meat itself I did Ina Garten style, kosher salt and fresh crushed peppercorns with ground mustard powder mixed right into the meat, patties in the freezer for 15 minutes, then right into a cast iron skillet. Melted manchego over the burgs, topped them with shallots I caramelized low and slow in butter for like 20 minutes, arugula, and fig jam. now I gotta cook for the group more often lol Edited November 12, 2021 by cowolter
RhaenysBee
I’m making a leek&potato soup. I can’t wait. I also have some leftover makowy to go with it, and a G&T while I wait for it to cook. It’s actually the third today… I will need quite the holiday season detox in January I also have a tiny amount of cubed beef in freezer and I’m going to make beef and barley soup next week. I was going to try borscht but I chickened out and didn’t order beetroots. I really want to make borscht but it seems rather complicated and intimidating. And I’m expecting one particular flavor which I obviously won’t be able to replicate, especially on the first try so it’s bound to be a letdown. RhaenysBee
Oh god, people, I just made the worst chicken ever, it was disgusting. I’m certain I screwed up cooking it too, but the recipe itself is repulsive as well. I don’t know, my tastebuds just don’t agree with Dijon mustard. Ugh yuck, I threw the whole thing out and I highly regret even eating the vegetable stew. I had to drink two shots of pálinka to clear the taste from my mouth and disinfect my stomach. Ah yuck, I’m throwing the whole jar of mustard out too. What a fail.
Larry of the Lake
Been doing the vegitarian thing but fell off the wagon last night, had some friends over and made up about 5 lbs of chicken wings. Pretty stoked with the wings, I have the dry rub and bake dialed in right where I want it. I've gone through phases of smoking them, grilling. I think my fave are slow roasted in the oven. Did buffalo, garlic herb, and naked wings last night. Served with celery and carrot sticks and made up a blue cheese dip that came out great. Bunch of fresh parsley and a little lemon juice in the dip. Also made a bean dip and napa / mix greens salad for before hand. Now I'm back on the veggie train and doing roast potatoes (red and sweet), fennel, and cabbage for dinner tonight. RhaenysBee

Apparently all it is: you take a recipe for chicken chowder, and add beans and chili powder to it. A Horse Named Stranger
Tried my hands on some veggie oven dish. Didn't expect too much of it, since the receipe has an eggplant in it (not a fan). But fair enough, it's edible enough for me not to throw away the receipe. RhaenysBee
I have no idea what’s for dinner, but for once I managed to buy lunch at the office that was neither fried, nor made of potatoes. I actually had vegetables and grilled cheese for lunch. The joy.
