Best Sitcom Episodes Ever

I am bored and got caught up with a Simpsons marathon.  And while none of my favorite episodes were playing, it got me thinking about some of the great ones.  And then, cascade of thoughts, I moved on to my favorite sitcom episodes ever.  So, here is my list thus far; what are everyone else's favorite episodes of all time?

In no particular order, and no doubt forgetting quite a few (and using Google to cheat on episode titles)..

Titus-'Dad's Dead' -  If you have ever seen Christopher Titus stand up you will know the basics.  It was the pilot for a underrated series, and it had the best build up for a climax I can think of.  It sets up the characters one at a time as they show up thinking the main character's dad is dead.  And it climaxes with the best character introduction maybe ever.

-Always Sunny - 'Underage Drinking' - The first season was rough and the show needed DeVito, but I have never laughed harder than this episode.  Three adults acting like high school kids, getting involved in petty squabbles, all while justifying their horrible actions.

-Frasier - 'The Ski Lodge' - The best of what this show did best, put everyone in confusing awkward situations and the whole cast is trying to set up a one night stand with a different member of the sky trip.  Tough call on this one, because I have also always loved the 'Ham Radio' episode.

The New Girl - 'Thanksgiving' - All I can think of is a turkey in the drying machine.  I quite on this show halfway through the second season, but this episode is now a family tradition.

M.A.S.H. - 'Smell of Music'- MASH is hard for this because it rarely was pure comedy, but this is one of those rare episodes.  Hawkeye stops bathing until Charles stops practicing his french horn.  Hilarity ensues.

The Simpsons - Season 4 -  Yep, that about covers it.

Here's mine off the top of my head and don't know ep titles.

Big bang theory, the one where Amy fakes being sick and Sheldon spanks her.

Seinfeld, The contest of course....    The one with the soup Nazi.    The one entirely in the Chinese restaurant waiting for a table.

Cheers, the one where the bar yells Norm!

MASH, agree with poster, most were excellent but not purely comedy.

Friends, one stands out for me is where the girls lose the nice apt and have to move to the guys apt.

I'll stop here but I am sure others will pop in my head as posts come in here.

Hmm...I guess I’ll go with one each from my top 5 favorite comedies:

The Nightman Cometh - It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

The Marine Biologist - Seinfeld

Marge vs the Monorail - The Simpsons

The Car Pool Lane - Curb Your Enthusiasm

The Injury - The Office (US)

Seinfeld - Festivus.  (“You disappoint me!”)

New Girl - the camping trip when Schmidt “White Fangs” Cece.

Friends — the cheesecake episode always gets two laughs (cheesecake is slapped; Joey has a fork), which is at least one more than most

Cheers — when we see Cliff Claveland at home with his mother.  Not hilarious but full of pathos and humanity that completely changes the audience’s view of the character.

Simpsons — “see my vest, see my vest, ...”

Frasier — hard to pick out a specific one because they were so consistent/formulaic; in a good way, but individual episodes don’t stand out as much.

The Office (US) - when Michael shows that depression is more dangerous than warehouse injuries.

Only Fools And Horses — War Is Hell sticks in my memory longest even if it wasn’t the funniest.

BlackAdder  — the trial for Speckled Jim, the variety show (“The slug balancer was quite good”) (both in S4)

Community - Paintball (although there are a few options here because the gimmick-parody-of-the-week style makes individual episodes more memorable)

Father Ted - the caravan

Boston Legal - the episode where lawyer Denny Crane (W Shatner) is forced by a judge to defend a man who raped and killed a child, and instead shoots him in both knees - claiming self-defence. And then appears on Larry King.

The episode where Denny thinks he’s being asked to become the Republican presidential nominee was funnier until Donald Trump.

Seinfeld- So many tough choices, but probably The Marine Biologist or The Puffy Shirt or The Yada Yada

Curb Your Enthusiasm- The Ski Lift or The Palestinian Chicken

Community - Paradigms of Human Memory (the fake clip show) or Contemporary American Poultry for pure funniness.

30 Rock - The Succession

South Park- Scott Tenorman Must Die

The Simpsons- You Only Move Twice (Scorpio!) or Last Exit to Springfield (so long, dental plan!)

The Office (US) - The Dinner Party

It's Always Sunny - The Nightman Cometh

And... I can't believe nobody's mentioned Arrested Development in this thread. Pier Pressure or Key Decisions or Motherboy XXX or SOBs or Good Grief... or too many to mention.

I could have very easily gone with these two. Probably my second favorite episodes of each show.

I also almost went with The Rye from Seinfeld. Every single line out of Frank Costanza’s mouth in that episode is pure gold. And George hoisting the bread up the building with the fishing pole will never not be funny to me no matter how many times I see it.

Ahh yeah, the Rye is definitely a classic. So is The Car Pool Lane that you listed in your post. I feel like we may have similar senses of humour. I'll have to check out The Injury again- it's been years since I've seen it, and I can't really remember it well.

The Simpsons - Last Exit to Springfield - "Dental plan...Lisa needs braces". Honorable Mention: Cape Feare, Homer goes to space,

Community - The second paintball one, the two-parter. Honorable Mention: Conspiracy Theories and Interior Design

The Office - Dinner Party is probably the best, but Fun Run makes me laugh the hardest. Honorable Mention: Goodbye Toby, Casino Night.

Seinfeld - Marine Biologist. Honorable Mention: The Summer of George, The Van Buren Boys. George Costanza is the greatest character in sitcom history.

WKRP In Cincinnati - Turkeys Away (this may be the best episode of any show)

30 Rock - Kidney Now! (Milton Greene, Milton Greene ..... and "I'm one of the drunk ones")

Big Bang Theory - The Convention Conundrum (final bit with JEJ and Carrie Fisher has me rolling every time)

Modern Family - My Funky Valentine (Intro Clive and Julianna)

This is so true. Even the opposite episode where he does the opposite of what he would normally do. There are so many Seinfeld ones to choose from, each one I see listed here makes me laugh a little when I remember it.

SHRINKAGE, THERE WAS DEFINITE SHRINKAGE!!!
