McTominay, Matic, and Mata. With Pereira and James out wide. Mmmmmmmmhm.

Not like we had much in the way of options with Pogba, Martial and Shaw all injured. This squad from midfield onwards is pathetically thin. Leicester are going to tear us a new one today.

eta. Lingard is injured as well.

Good win after a rocky start.  An early kick-off after an international break makes it even tougher although, to be fair, Newcastle had some players missing with injuries too so a tough situation for both.  I hope Origi isn’t too badly hurt.  There was a big difference once Firmino came on though.  It still looks like we can only really rotate in MF.  Unless Brewster is a sudden revelation, we’ll be trying to play the same front three every game.

Re. United- they were suffering a lot of injuries at the back end of last season too - is OGS working the players too hard in training?

Possibly him demanding more in terms of pressing has exacerbated the problem but I think the issue goes deeper than just Solskjaer's training methods since United players have been getting a lot of muscle injuries for years now. Read somewhere that United actually have the second worst injury record (after Arsenal) over the past decade.

Not a good game to watch but it went much better than I expected it to. Leicester dominating possession very much played into our hands and hamstrung them because much like us, Leicester struggle to break down a deep defence and are far more effective playing on the counter. Aside from the Maddison chance, they were pretty toothless and United created the better chances.

Anyway, on our game, not a bad result considering we started with nine men. McTominay played really well.

Chong had a weird game after he came on coz it was part atrocious decisions and passes that made him look like a kid in the park, and part superb control and touches that took out half of Leicester's defence in one go. Hope he nurtures that second side as the nerves from playing for the first team get less obvious.

Brilliant counter-attacking football from Norwich. They also defended extremely well which was surprising seeing as how it looked like this team would leak goals. They did a great job at keeping City out of the box which resulted in City having to resort to lumping in crosses.

Looking at how poor City were defensively, Laporte's long term injury could be a major problem for them. With Kompany released as well, that just leaves them with Stones and Otamendi as the only senior CBs in the squad. Guardiola will probably resort to using Fernandinho at CB.
