What if Daenerys forces Aegon VI to go and rule Meeren instead of making him her husband or Prince of Dragonstone?

Recommended Posts

I wonder if much will be left from Meeren after the Battle of Fire, with Ironborn, Dragons unleashed, Slaver Armies, mercenaries, Pale Mare ,Revolt and schemers inside the city, even some Khalasar might join in the slaughter.

Forcing the other contender to the throne, who is supposedly her nephew is better to make alliance with him or make him swear fealty and give him region to control in Westeros, or kill him even than banish him and give him chance to become greater threat in time.

Golden Company could have tried to make some meager kingdom in Essos or Stepstones, but they seem to have their own goal of returning to their lands in Westeros, which is captured nicely in their motto: "Beneath the gold, the bitter steel"

It would be a nice way to get rid of prince of unclear origin since Meeren should be ruled by House Targaryen too. And Controlling region like Slaver Bay is something Golden company would die for it.

1) It's halfway across the world or farther. He wouldn't make it there by the end of the book

2) He specifically chooses to go to Westeros

3) Golden Company wants to end their exile

4) Dany will need all the Westerosi allies and support she can get, and the Dornish would favor her but likely already be attached to Aegon VI

But the most important reason

* Why would the GC want to rule over a place where a westerosi woman with f*cking dragons can't rule properly without a Ghiscari consort, and they have no overwhelming force to cow the sons of the harpy into the darkness and inactivity?

-book can show his departure

 2) He specifically chooses to go to Westeros

-Aegon will learn to obey

3) Golden Company wants to end their exile

-there is no future for sellsword company in Westeros.

 4) Dany will need all the Westerosi allies and support she can get, and the Dornish would favor her but likely already be attached to Aegon VI

-so she must get rid of him

-Dany didn't use dragons to rule Meeren she prisoned them.

Aegon would be open to this if she can prove to him that he is not Prince Aegon.  If she cannot, then they will have to fight it out or one of them will agree to build a new empire somewhere else.  It doesn't matter who has the better claim because she can always claim hers is superior because she brought the dragons back and that makes her a Targaryen Goddess.  And many will side with her.  Aegon will never be able to prove who he is, if he is even a Targaryen.

Aegon will have no success in ruling Meereen because he will not carry a lot of authority.  He's not Mhysa, nor is he the Breaker of Chains.  The slaves will not easily transfer their loyalty to an unknown boy.  This boy did not free them from slavery.  Aegon will at best only have the Golden Company.  That's not even close to enough to control Meereen.

Daenerys, the Mother of Dragons, Azor Ahai, the One who woke dragons from stone is greater than any Targaryen who ever lived.  She has the right to require this of Aegon.  He has to comply.  He was not the one who brought the dragons back after all.  He is, for the most part, only a regular human.  Definitely not her equal.
