As a mummer is an actor ( https://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Mummer ) , I guessed first that a mummer's dragon is an articulated puppet in the form of a dragon, used in stage plays and shows to represent a dragon; and that it has become proverbial by its powerlessness (except in stage pretence), as compared with the great power of a real dragon. Narsil4 Posted October 12, 2019 Share Posted October 12, 2019 Using 'Mummer' may imply a few word associations. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/mummer https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/mum Mask, disguise, silence, mumble, mother, chrysanthemum, eeltail catfish, breast, candle. So much like 'Sun's Son' seems to refer to Drogo's son, Rhaego. 'Mummer's Dragon' might just be a flowery way of saying 'Mother's Dragon' with a suggestion Dany isn't who she thinks she is and also implying a connection to Rhaego/Rhaegal.
