That's why I loved how the Niners fleeced the Bears in that trade. Of course, Solomon Thomas and Reuben Foster haven't exactly worked out. So, there's karma for ya I guess. Really? I know people had concerns about Mitch, but I thought it was pretty consensus that he was a first round QB, albeit not a top five prospect. Allen, OTOH, got slammed by most people. He really projected as a draft day two project pick. I will always say this about Mitch and the Bears drafting him. It's okay that they missed on Mahomes. There is no excuse though for passing on Watson. All you literally needed to do was watch his two National Championship performances against Bama to know he's the number one overall pick. But Allen, due to his physical gifts, would be much sexier as a draft pick in a vacuum. Also, this is neither here nor there, but I hate the "day two" vernacular that's devolved based on how the NFL airs the draft. It's really stupid to classify someone as a "day two" pick, when in most drafts there's not much difference between #20 and #60. I guess Drew Brees was a "day two" pick as well. 1 hour ago, Tywin et al. said: There is no excuse though for passing on Watson. Agreed.

Both Mitch and Allen were the QBs that surged up the draft boards late in the process. I can at least kind of understand why Mitch did. On paper he has all the tools, but they don’t seem to translate to live game action outside of his running abilities. Allen, OTOH, is a wildly inaccurate QB. But hey, Jaheem Allen can scoot. As far as “day two” goes, it just helps separate guys who are borderline first round draft picks from guys who could go anywhere between 2-4. Eh, there’s a minimum of 128 picks made in the first four rounds. I’d argue that just over a third of them are likely potential first round picks. But hey, at the end of the day it’s all a guessing game anyways.

If he tanked the year, he would do it because Handsome Jimmy is the olive-skinned son he wasn't allowed to keep, the second-round (the round where he makes his most optimistic and hopeful choices) heir apparent that would have allowed him to prove that it was more about him than about Tommy Avocados and his Snake Oil multilevel marketing vision. You must have seen those reports that he kept sending encouraging text messages to supple young Jimmy in his first half-season with the Niners. If he's rolling over for the Niners, it's in the spirit of pleasing Handsome Jimmy so that he comes back as a free agent in 2021 when Brady's preternatural fruit has finally withered, and Belichick can ride that Italian Stallion to pass Don Shula on the all time victories list. Prove me wrong, if you dare.

But, first, I'm not sure why you're including the 4th round - those are "day three" picks! Anyway, my qualm is that when I go on mock draft sites I much prefer their projections to be by round, e.g. 2nd rounder or 2-3 rounder - where clearly they think the "2nd rounder" has superior stock to the "2-3 rounder." Or, of course, I prefer being even more specific, late first rounder, early second rounder, etc. "Day two" just seems like a copout.

Trebla
The Bucs, who were near the goal line, had the running back stuffed because he was tackled by the wide receiver who was in motion. Seriously. It looked like receiver was late going into motion so by the time he started, the ball was snapped and the ball handed off to the back. The receiver plowed into the back and knocked him over for a loss. It also looked like the ball almost came out. Just wow. eta: Here it is. Nagy is getting KILLED right now on social media. The funny thing is that all off-season he seemed a nervous wreck about finding the right kicker but now seemed to have confidence with Eddie Piniero. It seems like the one he didn't trust in this situation was Trubisky. While I don't really dislike the Bears (*anymore), sports radio in Chicago is comedy gold when the Bears lose. *I REALLY HATED them for running up the score against my Cowboys in '85 and got razzed by friends for it for years.
