Football: foreVAR confused

Sheffield United are all over Man United here. Ed Woodward clearly doesn’t want to pull trigger on sacking Solkjaer, probably because he’s convenient cover for Woodward’s own failings, but there can’t be much longer till he has to.

Also Phil Jones is definitely getting sent off.

Eh, disappointed that we conceded in the 90th minute but also think we were fortunate to get a draw as Sheffield United were the better side. Three at the back doesn't work for us at all so that was tactical mistake by Solskjaer but considering we only had one fit midfielder (Fred), a draw is a decent enough result away to an in form side although the result doesn't much help our current predicament.

We desperately need Pogba, McTominay and Matic to recover asap because we have absolutely fuck all cover in midfield which is our own fault for being so dumb as to think it would be okay going into the season where we would be competing in four competitions with only four 1st team midfielders.

Meh, but at least we're starting to see the young frontline start to gel some. Still desperately need a creative player behind them, like, I really hope when Pogba finally gets fit Ole sticks with Fred (or someone new) and McTominay as a pair and puts Pogba in front of them.

We've been decent defensively this season but today Solskjaer got it all wrong. Jones has, is and always will be a massive liability - he's mostly shit but then has a few good games and then gets injured again. He should never have been on the field and we should have just stuck with a back four.

Also think he should have played a midfield three with Garner coming in since we had no other options but at least he's an actual midfielder - playing a #10 (Pereira) as a #8 in a three man midfield makes more sense than sticking him in a two man midfield and predictably he struggled a lot. Our defence looked a bit more assured in the 2nd half once we switched to a back four but then Solskjaer inexplicable switches to a back three again towards the end. The manager was the poorest of the lot today and we were lucky to escape with a point.

Anyway, this was Flamengo's second trophy, the first since 1981 (also in a November 23rd) when Zico was still captaining our team, and will probably face Liverpool in the World Club Championship in December (and also qualified for the sham tournament Fifa is trying to hold in 2021).

Regarding the European games, haven't followed much today, but seems Emery and Valderde are still trying to get fired, and Liverpool still managing to try to lose points, but being unable to, so business as usual, I guess.

In very related news, due to other results, Flamengo won this sunday the Brazilian league, which pretty much makes our weekend the greatest anyone ever had in the history of the sport.

I'd still stick with Williams though. He has a lot of work to do on the defensive side of his game but his attacking play this season has been much better than what either Young or Shaw have produced. With Wan Bissaka on the other side -- who is good defensively but not so good in attack -- it's important to have one fullback who can contribute going forward otherwise our attacking play becomes far too limited. This is why I really wanted us to sign Tierney.

They need to get a little more consistency in the finish, especially from Wesley, but that Connor Hourihane struggles to get into their first team says a lot about the quality of the midfield and forward line that Villa have assembled.

Douglas Luiz is lowkey one of the best defensive/box-to-box midfielders in the league too.

Yes. However, while Diatta's second yellow for taking off his shirt is black letter law, to send off Clinton for excessively celebrating the goal (aka kicking the corner flag) was just ludicrous imo. There the referee should have been way more lenient. Fortunately Brugge managed to get away with that away point.
