Doctor Pershing, working for the Client, is from Kamino, evidenced by the patch on his right shoulder.  So it is possible this baby is an actual clone of Yoda.

50 years old puts the birth of baby Yodaa about 9-10 years before Episode 1 I think.  Which might be the same time the Clone Troopers were made, if they're all about 20 years old in Ep. 2.

Or he's cloning Palpatine for Episode IX and needs baby yoda's midichlorians or some shit.

I think once you get your head round the tone the show is going for then its a lot of fun. I was thrown initially thinking this was some dark gritty take on the SW universe. But this show is pure pulp. It really could be a cartoon in some ways.

Second episode wasn't as strong as the first, maybe wasn't even good, but I am loving the show so far. It reminds me of the Tartakovsky Clone War series a bit (the good one), and I really think it captures the mood that Lucas maybe always intended SW to have. Episode 2 had a Lone Wolf and Cub vibe as well, I liked that.

I have some qualms but I'm still pretty positive about the show so far. But I can't handle the short time and waiting a week. So I am gonna just let it play out, try to avoid spoilers, and just watch the rest over two good binges (okay, probably just one).

It's going to be tough trying to avoid this thread, though, as I have too many friends and coworkers that will fail me and spoil shit every week. So far, I feel like the show won't be ruined if I hear how things are going in the next few weeks before I binge the rest.

As someone that has hated the several Disney SW movies i'm actually surprised how much i've been enjoying this show. Will definitely see the season out. Wish the episodes were a little longer though.

Yeah, this is officially stupid. Very pretty stupid, but an infant has mastery of the Force comparable to that of a trained Jedi with centuries of experience just because he's the same species? Also, why not scavenge the Mandalorian's weapons and armour while he's unconscious? He just killed a bunch of them so they've no reason to be merciful, and it seems implausible that his gear isn't valuable enough to stop for. And who were the people he massacred in the first episode, and why were they looking after the infant? That might get explained later, I suppose.

Agreed.  Although, little(r) Yoda is about 30 years older than Rey.  Plus, for all we know he may have had some instruction in the force at some point (unlike Rey) or as some others speculated, his species are particularly force-proficient or some such.

Yall are going to have to get over how the force works. Training, just like size, matters not. Luke had no training and blew up the fucking death star. Anakin didnt have training and blew up the trade federation control ship. Training is useful if you're not the chosen one. But if the force needs it, itll happen.

This was a better ep, though we get more metallurgy porn. It is definitely not particularly smart or surprising. Its star wars mac and cheese. But it's pretty, and I did get all happy at the mandalorian with a machine gun defending mando at the end.

I'm digging this so far. There's not that much dialogue, and plenty of action, so even the episode length doesn't bother me much.

After this episode, I approve of the decision to keep Pedro's face hidden, but hopefully they will write a good enough moment for when he does reveal his face. We didn't need to see a sad face when he became conflicted about the child, much like how Vader became conflicted in RotJ. And I like that they wove it into doing something new for the Mandalorians. It seems this whole hide-your-face thing is a new thing that the surviving Mandalorians adopted due to the purge of their homeworld.

His actions made me think, once again, of a video game - take the reward, get the badass armor, and go back and kill the fuckers. His motivations were good, though.

The fight at the end was cool. But I did roll my eyes at "War Machine" there at the end there, and his little jetpack keeping up with a spaceship (something we saw in Rebels, too)

Who's betting on who rescued little Mando from the battle droid in the flashback scene? A Mandalorian warrior or a Jedi? If it's Obi Wan played by McGregor, a lot of fans will lose their shit. :D

If it was a Jedi I wouldn't think he'd be so baffled by the force,

I'm conflicted. This show is really, really stupid but it looks amazing. Little Yoda in the beginning, after the Mandalorian, took the little ball away, it was just so sad.

The writing is dumb as hell though. It feels oddly rushed and at the same time it keeps wasting big reveals. Last week Yoda using the force (we all saw that coming but still), this week the Mandalorian cavalry coming in to save the day. Why throw so much good stuff away straight away? Heck, what was the point of the whistleblower shit if it was just barely able to smite four stormtroopers? Why did the whole Mandalorean colony just reveal its existence to save Lil' Yoda. Why do the Stormtroopers not wear disguises? Why can there be only one Mandalorean out at the same time?

Not if it's a Jedi who just impaled the battle droid with a lightsaber.

But if he's old enough to have lived when the Jedi were still going around impaling things with their lightsabers shouldn't he know what their whole deal was?

I like how they established that he's never removed his helmet or let someone else remove it. Then he gets a new helmet so obviously he removed the old one.

I mean, in a massive galaxy with trillions if not more people, I'd imagine the amount of people who have ever actually seen a Jedi are relatively insignificant compared to the massive majority who have not.  By the time the original trilogy rolled around, Palpatine's own men were treating Vader like a religious hack and were openly mocking him in meetings.

And seeing a laser sword is a bit different than seeing someone lift a giant object with only their mind, especially in a world filled with robots and crazy weapons.

As far as the helmet thing goes, I also thought it was a little silly.  No idea how the dude eats and sleeping in that thing can't be comfortable.  I do have a theory that no one actually saves him as a kid.  The robot is there to kill the adults and collect children to be indoctrinated into the Mandalorian way of life.

True I guess this isn't a new issue but it's still weird. Even if most people never see a Jedi, I was under the impression that they would be aware of them. Like didn't Anakin want to be one even before he met Qui-Gon? I might be making that up.

This show is basically everything I have ever wanted in a Star Wars project, so I should be loving this. But I'm just not feeling it so far. The third episode was a step up from the first two but still not enough to really capture me. It just feels shallow so far and the action scenes a pretty boring and mostly just boil down to mowing down dozens of faceless aliens, although I thought it was a bit better in this episode.

And while I don't think that a faceless protagonist is necessarily bad, but I don't think it work here. I know what the Mandalorian is feeling and thinking mostly because it is telegraphed through the story, because it's what this kind of character i supposed to be thinking at this point, and not because any actual acting. And it's not like there are many other interesting characters. The short episode length doesn't help either, as it does not leave a lot of breathing room between the mandatory action scenes.

It does looks pretty though.
