James Steller
Given that Tywin wasn’t trying to sue for peace during the entirety of his eldest son’s status as a hostage, and given that he would have plotted the Red Wedding either way, I don’t think he’d have been any more cruel if Jaime had been killed. Not only that, Jaime dead means that Catelyn doesn’t release him, and Rickard Karstark doesn’t slay the boy hostages. Brienne continues to serve Catelyn and the Starks, so admittedly she might die at the Red Wedding, changing that storyline. Without Jaime, Cersei might go even crazier than she did, if that’s possible. But what else changes, do you reckon?
Ser Leftwich
ASoS would have been a lot shorter without all those Jaime chapters. (Also, it would have been a completely different story. "What If" threads are almost always pointless.)
Greywater-Watch
It would have had an immediate affect on Tyrion. The only thing that kept Cersei from imprisoning Tyrion when he arrived at KL to take his place as Hand of the King, was that Tyrion gave her hope in the liberation of Jamie. No Tyrion, no proper defence of KL, hence Stannis would have won the battle, as he would have been able to take KL before Tywin's and Tyrell's arrival and wouldn't have lost his fleet. It will happen if Robb breaks his oath to the Freys. It just means Karstarks too will die at the wedding. What would Petyr Baelish do after Sansa dies? Find another proxy to power. Loose Bolt
What made Red Wedding possible was that together Boltons and Freys had more men than Robb. So if Karstark men had still been loyal to Robb during that then it would have been possible that those traitors would have aborted their ambush as too risky.
