HexMachina
Eww, Ricky Gervais is back. Why is he still a thing? I think you have listed best actress/actor twice btw. I am glad Rocketman even got a nomination considering the awkward/early timing of its release. I know Egerton and the rest have been doing the publicity circuit again lately and i am glad to see it paying off. Would be a worthy winner imo, as would Egerton winning actor in a musical/comedy

Heartofice
I mean I liked the Joker.. but no way should it win Best Picture. Could Irishman win despite it being mostly seen in Netflix? That would be big news and I wonder if it would mean that it can’t win.
Mark Antony
Best supporting actor is always the best but it’s especially stacked this year. Hope Pesci wins it
Corvinus85
I still haven't seen 1917, but it seems to me that it got snubbed in the editing category. While the cinematography is likely impressive, it was the editing that really made it look like a one continuous shot, no? 15 minutes ago, Heartofice said: I mean I liked the Joker.. but no way should it win Best Picture. I don't want it to win either. Last year Roma was a serious contender, even if it didn't win, I believe. So The Irishman could definitely win. I don’t think Irishman will win anyway. 1917 is going to clean up, imo. I expect it to win best picture, best director, and cinematography. So Parasite can compete in two different categories? Best picture and best international? Weird.
Fez
Sandler got snubbed. Parasite should win everything its up for.

While I haven't seen 1917 yet, I feel like in long continuous takes the editing is far more beholden to the cinematography and on-set direction than at any other time, because when and how it can cut is almost entirely dictated by what was done on set. If you're gonna hide a cut in a whip-pan or behind a character motion you need the camera to have set that up for you. Anyway I hope Parasite wins. Zorral
It's shame that Hustlers and JLo got shut out of #oscarssowhitemen. Additionally, Hustlers is the real Little Women for Our Time. The Irishman was a great film. But I honestly feel that Hustlers was its superior according to all the criteria by which we judge these matters -- except in terms of screen historical and cultural interpretation and commentary as to what is going on in the hearts and minds of our country. There The Irishman and Hustlers are equals.
Heartofice
Hustlers is this generations Showgirls. If they are giving out Oscars these days for looking good for your age then J-Lo should get one.
GallowKnight
Sandler got snubbed. Eddie Murphy too. Edit. And Defoe too, how the fuck is The Lighthouse only getting a single fucking nomination? With this I conclude that this years Academy Award is fucking bullshit
Nictarion
Martin Scorsese Todd Phillips Sam Mendes Quentin Tarantino Bong Joon Ho Not trying to knock him, as I actually loved Joker, but Todd Phillips name does kind of stand out in that group.
