US Politics: Nancy's Knock on the Senate Door

How far does stupidity reach?    Does it extend to democrats?    Are they at risk for stupidity?  Are they already living in stupidtown.   Iran drives terrorism.  This guy was driving Iran.   I don't know him, never asked if he was alive or employed during 9/11.  Don't know.   But one can surmise he's calling the shots or okaying the actions that foment terrorism, since that's Iran's bag.  They hit us and have been "escalating" and aggitating forever and a day but the press don't care because trump wasn't involved yet.  Now he is so we're hearing about escalation.   Hundreds of us have been getting maimed for years but this move is disproportionate. Stupid people are brainwashing you and that's why you are what you are.   It has an effect when you're told only slanted newsish fluff for years with no fresh oxygen allowed into the bubble.

Believe it or not, Iranians are not the only ones "driving" terrorism in the world.

Please say this is sarcasm.

I think it's only weird if we start from the notion that voters act rationally based on policy preferences, which as we've seen isn't really the case.

If you assume voters are starting from other places, it makes perfect sense. Warren is a woman, Buttigeig a gay man: both are minorities that have never been elected as President so that, for example, is a perfectly rational and predictable switch if you see the Presidency as substantially symbolic and believe that Warren and Buttigieg will be forced to govern within similar bounds.

Similarly, if you think only an older straight white guy can beat Trump, perhaps because you are one yourself or because you worry about Trump's appeal to white working class voters, switching from Sanders to Biden makes perfect sense.

To build on that - women contribute to all sorts of people, men contribute to those who look like them.

Forgetting all the rest of your frankly depressingly credulous take on the most cynically desperate straw-grasp ever, I’d like to point out just one thing:

I asked how stupid they thought Americans are. The part where this is all about partisanship, and the part where the assumption of stupidity must first cover Republicans...yeah, those came entirely from your own head. Think about that for a second.

The first Iran based surveys are out, with a narrow lead for Americans approving of the airstrike (44-38), but a robust indication that they do not think Trump has a clear strategy for Iran (47-32). The former may be just because Democrat opinion on the strikes and opposition to it has yet not crystallized.

Troll labor must be striking right now because these scabs are posting dumber and less entertaining content than ever.

Oh heavens above no! Striking? Why that sounds almost *shudders* socialist

Right.

I think the identity and electability aspects you mention are explain a lot of it, but in addition there's also simply the role of familiarity/name ID.  Most people know Biden and Sanders, and the Democratic electorate is likely to be comfortable with either.  It's another feature of risk aversion that compounds the "electability" hand-wringing.

Bolton will testify in the Senate trial if he is issued a subpoena, but it still needs 4 Republican senators to sign on (for a simple majority). This is Collins moment to shine [/sarcasm]

What a feckless little shit he is.  Oh, now I'm ok with cooperating with a subpoena, because I know the GOP Senate has no interest in doing so.

So, the WH is now claiming Soleimani was partly responsible for 9-11.

Two questions:

1) How stupid do they think Americans are?

2) Are they correct on that count?

I feel like I woke up and it's 2003 again.  Kinda like Freaky Friday.  Which, freakily, the last one came out in 2003.

It's pretty amazing how powerful and evil this guy who no one had ever heard of until 3 days ago was. Would have thought this guy would have been covered more before the US assassinated him since he was apparently the cause of all terrorism ever.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/daughter-of-late-gop-redistricting-expert-releases-trove-of-documents/ar-BBYFLsB?ocid=msnclassic

Washington — The daughter of a deceased Republican redistricting expert whose files roiled legal challenges to North Carolina's state voting map and the Trump administration's efforts to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census has made those documents available to the public.

The records belonged to GOP strategist Thomas Hofeller, who died in August 2018, and were discovered by Stephanie Hofeller following his death. In all, Stephanie Hofeller stumbled upon thousands of files stored on four hard drives and 18 thumb drives.

Republicans in North Carolina and Thomas Hofeller's former company have sought to block the release of the cache of records, which include spreadsheets, maps, emails and presentations. But last month, Stephanie Hofeller announced on Twitter she made copies of the documents and would upload them to TheHofellerFiles.com. She tweeted a link to the records Sunday.

Believe it or not, the U.S.’s actions in the 50’s helped cause today’s current Iranian regime.

Have we ever actually apologized for any of that?
