Lightning Tiger
Before season 8 aired i saw some crazy theories thrown around that maybe Bronn would get the Twins in the end, and even that i thought was super unrealistic, but then im like "its just a glorified river crossing" so sure maybe that could happen that an upjumped sellsword could get the Twins if like he saved Daenerys life at some point + kill a few whitewalkers single handed or something crazy like that, and it helped that he knew the right people. But then they had him ask Cercei for Highgarden in exchange for a simple assassination and she agreed? Im thinking theres no way, Cercei must have been thinking "il have you killed when you come back just for having the audacity to ask me that". Im thinking its a fakeout or something. But nah, end of the series he seriously gets Highgarden. Out of all the seven kingdoms lets be real here the Reach is the most important one, there was nobody to challenge this? Tyrion wasnt THAT influential....
Darryk
Total fan service. And the apologists try to claim we didn't like the ending because "it wasn't the happy ending we wanted". Yeah right. Bronn as Master of Coin, Davos as Master of Ships, Sam as Grand Maester....it's like a Walt Disney ending.
SilverGhost
That is what happens when you cut out so many book characters, someone has to be in charge of things when the world doesn't end and the Reach was one of the Regions that got the shaft when it came to cut out characters (along with Dorne and the Vale). It was fan service and also there were no Reach characters left alive after season 7 so Bronn gets Highgarden. It doesn't make sense in the wider series but the show had jumped a shark over a comet by the end so it's in keeping with the internal logic (and I use that word loosely) of the show. BlackLightning
Yes, him becoming the Lord of Highgarden (and still being unmarried) is complete idiocy at its finest. But, all in all, it looks minor considering all of the problems in these last two or three seasons.

Nah, Walt made better endings. 23 hours ago, BlackLightning said: Yes, him becoming the Lord of Highgarden (and still being unmarried) is complete idiocy at its finest. In fact, Natalie Dormer (Margaery) has gone on record saying she was highly disappointed in how fast the Tyrells went down in Season 7. https://www.her.ie/entertainment/natalie-dormer-one-thing-pissed-game-thrones-season-7-405297

From the Dornish coup to last minutes of Season 7 the show just kept killing off characters left and right for no other real purpose than to get them out of the way for the final season. Anyone the showrunners felt didn't serve a season eight purpose was killed off in the easiest way possible to clear the table. Sub-Plots were cut in half or buried, characterization tossed out the window, and everything happened to just press the plot forward to Season Eight. The way the Tyrells went down was extremely poorly done.
The Last Storm
With all the quick deaths in the lead up to season 8, it makes you wonder was there an actual plan. I mean why introduce some iconic book characters ( looking at you Doran) to have them have about 5 minutes of show time and then seemingly kill them off like they were never there. Would rather have a complete omit then a half hearted attempt which befuddles the story.
Raksha 2014
TV-Bronn will keep Highgarden until Tyrion and/or Bran catch him seriously embezzling Crown funds; and Bronn will take a one-way trip to the Wall. I estimate the process will take less than five years.

It was similar for me with another minor detail (which happens to involve Bronn, too): What made me realize the show had truly jumped the shark was not so much the utterly ridiculous Sand Snakes, or the idiocy of the entire Porne plot, or the "bad pussy", or the "fuck and fight" - I mean, it all did, but when Bronn slapped the crown prince and basically got a slap on the wrist for that, I realized the showrunners really didn't care for anything relevant to the premises of the show, like, you know, feudalism and stuff. I realized there were much worse and more embarassing things, but still that scene stood out for me. It somehow drove the point home. So I totally get why the TO might find this minor detail particularly disturbing, even though nothing really makes sense anyway.
Daemon of the Blacks
It was really dumb. Bronn has done nothing to deserve Highgarden aside from threatening a dwarf and a cripple. He always was a very skilled officer and bodyguard but he was hardly the leading Lannister general, their chief tactician or providing coin and soldiers for their cause. He's just a fan favorite with a lot of screentime.
Lord Lannister
If Tyrion had promised Bronn he'd be lord of Highgarden and a seat on the small council, then had the guards kill Bronn the second he walked into the council chamber, I'd have believed that.
