Football: winter break over

Recommended Posts

Reports say he's scheduled to undergo surgery this week on a fractured arm. Yeah, it's a blow with big games against Leipzig and Chelsea coming up.

Let's do this! 0-2 to us. :D

Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Mane, Salah Firmino.

Subs: Adrian, Milner, Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Minamino, Origi, Matip.

Salah has been better than Mane, who looks like he's not interested, and of course Away Wijnaldum is with us again, offering nothing.

I would have much rather seen Keita start, especially given how difficult it is to break through Atletico's line.

Being that it involves the niggliest, slyest, fouliest, chasing-narrow-margins-of-victoryest side in the world against a Diego Simeone side, I'm assuming that game is quite bitty?

Well that wasn't ideal. Atletico definitely had the better of that half and we really didn't want to give them something to hold onto. They've clearly got a plan with the unusual set up for corners, one of which lead to the goal, pressing high as Liverpool try to play out then dropping back when they manage to get it into midfield.

Having said that lets calm down on the negativity. There's three quarters of the tie to go.

We're doing all the same wrong things though, that's the problem. We struggled against Norwich in exactly the same way. This midfield doesn't offer that much and Firmino aside, the forwards look poor.
