Angel Eyes
So in One of his interviews, GRRM has said that the giant Wun-Wun is a nod to Giants quarterback Phil Simms, who wore the number 11 (one-one). Any other references to the NFL in the series?
The Map Guy
The Life of the Triarch Belicho, a famous Volantene patriot whose unbroken succession of conquests and triumphs ended rather abruptly when he was eaten by giants. {Tyrion VIII ADWD 2011} Is a reference to the 2008 Super Bowl XLII, where the New York Giants defeated Bill Bilicheat & the New England Patriots, who were undefeated prior to the championship game. ASOIAF ice giants = New York Giants ASOIAF fire dragons = New York Jets I don't care what George says, dragons are NOT nukes. Dragons are more similar to fighter jets. Unless there is a dragon that can magically make a nuke.
Hugorfonics
Dalton Greyjoy reminded me of Andy Dalton. Cant remember why though, I think there was more then just red hair...

Elegant Woes
George said that the Starks are the New York Giants and the Lannisters the Patriots. He also compared the fact that the New York Jets lost to the Patriots to the Starks losing to the Lannisters throughout ASOIAF. Apparently George loves the Giants and Jets but hates the New England's Patriots.
