Lykos
I'm really happy that this thread gets attention again. Averaging ten posts a month, I feel I did musicians wrong by starting a thread knowing I would rarely sign in. Rediscovering Roy Harper. "Tattoo" really sounds like trip hop 10 years earlier. I can hear Tricky and Massive Attack in there. Post-punk really started so many genres. I thought while listening Soap&Skin that she reminds me of Nico... before I learned that Anja Plaschg has covered Nico's songs and played her on stage. Teng Ai Hui
Are sea shanties really having a revival, or am I watching too much Stephen Colbert? Regardless, I can't stop listening to one called "Soon May the Wellerman Come".

Lykos
I finished my playlist, though it took quite some turns. Picking up from Fionas outrage ait the end of Newspaper: Cocorosie - GO AWAY! , to metaphysical passion by Jamie Saft - Vesamcheynu Dub , circling back a little Holger Czukay (ft. U-She) - Secret , a piece like for the sound that reminds me of a reed-flute like a Kaval or Ney Hope Sandoval + Massive Attack + Burial - Four Walls, Holger Czukay + Jah Wobble + Jaki Liebezeit - Mystery R.P.S.(No. 8) , ending with some punk meeting funky Hip-Hop The Slits after Neneh Cherry joined Ari Up on vocals - In the Beginning there was Rythm (Peel Session 1981) Edited February 6, 2021 by Lykos links

DireWolfSpirit
Before auto tune, before hip hop, before the internet, they had this sound. We called it Soul music. This is that sound.

Fez
More of a listening question than anything else, but I don't want to start a whole thread for it. I've been bingeing Brooklyn-99, and that led me back down the Lonely Island rabbit hole for the first time in a decade. I was listening to their single 'Jizz in My Pants' (lyrics NSFW) And I was reminded that, while the whole song is a fun, catchy parody of synthwave/electro-pop; the bit from 2:00-2:15 goes a bit beyond that. The lyrics in those 15 seconds is as goofy as the rest of the song, but it is so incredibly fast-paced and catchy. I've been looking for more 'real' songs that have that kind of sound, but I've been out of luck; nothing I've found has that combo of a tempo that fast, so completely ignores the concept of bass, and has lyrics. For instance, I've listened to a decent amount of Daft Punk, and while their songs are better overall, I haven't heard any that have quite that sound. Anyone have any recs?
