Both Biden and Trump are dealing with allegations right now. There's quite a contrast.

Biden

Accordingly, I request that you take or direct whatever steps are necessary to establish the location of the records of this Office, and once they have been located, to direct a search for the alleged complaint and to make public the results of this search. I would ask that the public release include not only a complaint if one exists, but any and all other documents in the records that relate to the allegation.

Trump

This week, President Donald Trump's attorney Charles Harder sent a letter to Michael Cohen, the president’s imprisoned former lawyer and fixer, demanding that Cohen stop writing a “tell-all” anti-Trump book, two sources familiar with the matter told The Daily Beast on Friday. The sources noted that the letter, sent on behalf of the Trump Organization, cited Cohen’s non-disclosure agreement that he signed while working for the Trump family’s business empire.

...

The news of the Trump Org’s legal threat against Cohen came the same day that the prisoner, who was due to be released from federal prison to house arrest on Friday, found that he will in fact remain behind bars, two people familiar with the situation told The Daily Beast.

A person close to Cohen confirmed to The Daily Beast he was now not being released to home arrest.

...

On Friday afternoon, when asked if the White House intervened to keep Cohen in the prison despite coronavirus concerns, Trump’s press secretary Kayleigh McEnany replied, “no, absolutely not.”

....

As The Daily Beast reported, Cohen had been writing a book behind bars and was preparing to spill the beans about his time as Trump’s bagman, which involved two hush-money payments to women Trump allegedly had affairs with.

Cohen was due to be behind bars until November 2021 for his roles in hush-money deals to porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal as well as other crimes.

A follow up report from The Beast this past weekend detailed how Trump was seething that his former confidant was being released early from prison and reported how the president was seeking information on what was in Cohen’s manuscript.

Heh.  Classrooms.  Remember what those were like?

Those hell holes?

I remember once in 5th grade finishing my work early and trying to read in order to not waste my time.

I got in trouble by the teacher for it. Apparently I was just supposed to sit there doing nothing.

My school was a shithole. I was in a geography test once and a fox stuck its head up through a hole in the floor under my desk, apparently I shouldn't have got distracted and just ignored it.

My first day of school I never went in the classroom.  I hid behind the building and once the area cleared out a bit I walked home.  I told my Mom school was over.  I had decided I would hide and walk home every day from then on.  Didn't work out.

You need unanimous consent of all States to change “equal sufferage” for States in the US Senate.

FYI.

I hope the teacher was allowed to hit you with a ruler.

A big one.

So let me get this straight, in the USA it is totally legal for an armed mob to force entry to a local parliament debate: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-52496514

What the fuck is wrong with your country?

Gives you chills thinking about what happens if Trump loses the next election and tweets an all-caps "RIGGED" because we all know he is going to do just that.

Not only that, but in some states it’s legal to protest while carrying guns but illegal to carry protest signs. Michigan is one of those states. You’ll notice nobody in the Michigan group that stormed the legislature had signs.

That’s an overstatement.  I suspect the ability to bring firearms into legislative assembly buildings is a hold over from the 19th century that “2nd Amendment” activists have fought to keep static.

I agree it is crazy now.

That said if these armed crazies actually threatened someone while they were there (more than merely possessing the weapon) they would be facing charges.

The laws allowing these crazies to have firearms in that locale desperately need changing.

(Sorry Simon)

There's little to no security at most state capitals. I worked as an aide for a state senator, and I found it shocking how easily people could get into his shared office.

Even more shocking was just a pair of little old ladies being the only line of defense for the governor.

We really need to bring back the days when Governors would directly command armed militias. It'd help when the Russians invade.

Michael Bloomberg expands influence network within Democratic party

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/may/02/michael-bloomberg-expands-influence-network-within-democratic-party

Quote

... Bloomberg’s enormous wealth and influence is still strong in the party via a growing network of groups, former associates and allies sprinkled across the Democratic party universe. [....]

[....]Bloomberg himself is staying visible, working with the New York governor, Andrew Cuomo, to launch a testing and tracing program. He spoke via video conference call during Cuomo’s press briefing on Thursday. The governor, currently one of the most prominent Democrats in the country, said in late April that Bloomberg was working with him.

A network of operatives and Bloomberg-connected political organizations is also active in Democratic presidential circles. Bill Knapp, a longtime Bloomberg adviser, recently joined Priorities USA, the Super Pac the Joe Biden campaign has signaled is its outside organization of choice for the general election.

During Bloomberg’s campaign, he poured almost $67m into a new digital and technology firm called Hawkfish. Hawkfish has stayed active since Bloomberg dropped out. The firm is reportedly in talks to work for Biden’s presidential campaign although nothing is finalized.

Hawkfish also got into negotiations to buy another Democratic analytics firm, Blue Labs Analytics, according to four Democrats with knowledge of those talks, but negotiations fell through. Hawkfish and Blue Labs still have ties.

In Washington Democratic analytics circles Hawkfish has become a hot topic as a firm trying to elbow its way into the group of top-tier data analytics firms.
