Football: The Closed Season

Mourinho reportedly earns £15m/year at Spurs and his contract runs until 30 June 2023. There's no way Levy is paying out £45m in compensation. Levy will just be hoping that Mourinho can deliver some silverware even though the football is awful to watch like he did at United. The difference is that Mourinho isn't going to be given the financial backing at Spurs that he got at United so he might start burning things down earlier than usual.

I don't think that's it, it's just that with the midfield we have out there, there's not a great deal of quality going forward so we've just been pumping balls forward, most of which have come to nothing.

Salah and Mane look dangerous, but Firmino is a useless lump. Compare that to the other end, where you have KdB in great form and Sterling and Jesus making good runs.

It's not like Liverpool has played poorly.

They were pretty much in the game before the second.

Salah hit the post shortly before Liverpool conceded the penalty. And just moments before the second, Ederson was a bit lucky with that ball just outside the box. The 2-0 feels a bit like it pulled the plug.

And it's 3-0 now. Looks like City about to make a statement, about the league title being in Liverpool is a one-off, they will reclaim it next season.

Liverpool started the half well and were the better side as well as created the better chances. It all went pear shaped though. Gomez had a poor half and Liverpool's midfield hasn't offered much aside from running around a lot. Mane and Salah have looked dangerous every time a long ball has been played in behind.

Normal 5-10% drop by each player after they secured the league and ahve nothing left to play for I guess.

However, I don't think they were quite as bad as the score line suggests. City are the better team (they always were imho), and they did what Liverpool excelled at this season, and where City have struggled: They were just ruthless with the chances they had been offered. So all in all a very bad night at the office for Liverpool.
