Watch, Watched, Watching: What Now?

Such a classic film! I have really vivid memories of seeing this at the pictures - partly because it was really packed and I was desperate to go to the loo but I was sat right at the closed end of a row and couldn't have gotten out without making 15 people stand up.

Ah, interesting, thank you. I watched the first episode of this at the weekend and it certainly looked as if the events had been shaken up/re ordered/skewed. It looked 'familiar' to me but I was waiting for the opening scene (or what I remembered was the opening scene) but it didn't arrive.

Yeah I just read the Wikipedia article for a general idea of the hook and it sounds like a very different experience. It seems like the TV show decided to go more chronologically?

As a side note, some of the reviews were frustrating with their complaints of "what is going on!" as I though it was perfectly clear apart from the spoiler @felice mentioned above, which is probably just a bit of messy writing. Also the complaint I seem to see in most reviews these days of "it's too dark I can't see anything!" I mean, I watch on an iPad mini and had no issues at all...

Not gonna lie, I really enjoyed Eurovision Song Contest: Story of Fire Saga... :leaving:

Really now. Isn't that the top trending thing on Netflix?

I'm watching West Side Story. I can be a sucker for good musicals, which is so random.

I have to say that watching it on TV on Saturday with the windy/sunny/cloudy/sunny weather made it look pretty dark on the screen and yeah... it was a little bit too dark sometime. :leaving:

Have completed the first three seasons of Bordertown now (up to date as the third season just go released in June). Would definitely watch another season. If you look moody scandi police dramas then check it out.

On Friday I wanted to watch something light-hearted and ridiculous so we stuck on The Order and blasted through the first season. A witches coven vs werewolf teen drama was exactly what I was after! A couple of familiar faces from Riverdale and even better, the head of the coven looked familiar too so I double-checked and it was indeed Ginger from Ginger Snaps. Awesome! I am a fan of the werewolf chic from the show - where they live in this kind of down-at-hill shabby chic old house and lounge around drinking cocktails. Count me in. My only problem with the show is 1) some of the humour falls flat (not funny enough - sorry) and 2) any time you're expected to care about anyone's love life. These characters are not deep enough to be believable when they have 'feelings' about each other. Just stick to the outlandish ritual stuff please.

I thought the second episode of Perry Mason was much stronger than the opener with a clear focus on the case and simply felt more confident and surefooted than the first episode. Anyone who was on the fence or put off by the first episode should give episode 2 a chance before making a firm decision.

If you squint (and ignore the duplicated actors) this could be set in the same "world" as "boardwalk empire" and that's not a bad thing IMO.

Watched Burning. Hmm.  Granted, it is refreshing to see a multi-layered movie that allows for ambiguity and interpretation by the audience.  That said, once again, I don't see a masterpiece or a 95% RT rating.  It was interesting, good not great, but again I give it props for making me think about it and do some googling.

Rewatched some of American Horror Story.  Good god, what was I thinking that I ever watched and liked this absolute trash????  Even putting aside the grotesque levels of violence porn, it is so trite, stupidly plotting, unbelievable even for crazy horror, that no amount of good acting could or should have saved it.

I thought it was fine. Too long for what it ended up being. My wife liked the short story better by quite a bit.

Oh nice, I didn’t know it was based on a short story. I’ll have to read it now.

I get why some wouldn’t be overly impressed with the movie as it does drag at times. I loved trying to figure out what the hell was going on the whole time. Acting was great also.

Yup, based on Barn Burning by Murakami. Only 13 pages long so quick read.

No, the Polish softcore porn movie seems to be the Netflix number 1 hit this year.
