What you are saying here is a bunch of baloney. The implication that there some kind of mathematical proof that makes effects of gerrymandering nil is pure horeshit.

QED.  Let's move on.  I was arguing that gerrymandering is going to tend to result in more extreme partisans getting elected than otherwise would be the case.  Never said the effect of gerrymandering was nil, whistfully suggested it would be nice if it could be eliminated even handedly.  So thanks for supporting me, even if you meant to be trashing me?

If that is your argument, I have no problem with it. I often read through these threads quickly to catch up and I must have misread your argument. So my apologies if you were trying to say something else and I misunderstood it. Every once awhile, I've been known to fuck up.

Beware of the intern at the Cato institute that was allowed near an excel spreadsheet.

I suspect anyone working at Cato prefers Python.  Buncha snakes in the grass.

That's why horses, do read relevant resarch before they enter stuff into SPSS.

The problem is horses need to get with the times and learn R or at least STATA for the requisite processing power of certain polo science methods and modeling.

LOL.

I really like Python. I guess I'm a snake in the grass too. LOL. I use excel too, but usually because sometimes its easier for simple problems. You know, I'm lazy. Always looking for the easiest way to do things. So, I guess I'm a very lazy snake in the grass. I might bite somebody if they walked by, but that probably would be too much work.

I must admit I resisted Python for a long time but eventually had to learn it to conduct (well, organize) automated textual analysis for EOs.  Took awhile for me to get the hang of it, but yeah I really like it now too.  Was just trying to keep up on the whole animal theme.

Not to turn this into discussion about tech, but yes one of its strengths is its string handling capabilities. And the code is simple to understand, it doesn't have a weird convoluted syntax like R.

Yeah I only use R when I have to, i.e. when STATA takes like 15 minutes to run my model.

Trump Says “Vicious Dogs” Would Have Met White House Demonstrators as Protests Spread Across U.S.

https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2020/05/trump-vicious-dogs-protests-george-floyd-spread-country.html

Quote

After a night of chaos as protests erupted late into the night in more than 30 cities across the United States amid anger over the killing of George Floyd, President Donald Trump did not seem to be in a conciliatory mood on Saturday. In a four-tweet thread, Trump warned that the protesters who had gathered outside the White House Friday night “would have been greeted with the most vicious dogs, and most ominous weapons, I have ever seen,” if they had managed to breach the White House fence. Trump also praised the Secret Service officers that confronted the protesters who gathered at Lafayette Park Friday night as the White House was placed under lockdown. The president also dismissed the hundreds of people who gathered outside the White House Friday, saying they had “little to do with the memory of George Floyd.”

I mean, is this where we're at?

Our President is Mr. Burns, except Monty was smart despite all his moral failings.

He probably admires Burns unironically.

He probably wishes he was like his evil sons and had the guts to shoot @Triskele and make a vest out of him.

But he doesn't seem to be the kind of man who even has the decency to pay the poacher, unless he's covering up his affair with a porn star while his wife is at home caring for their newborn child. That receipt he'll pay for, but then of course also lie about. And right wing religious leaders will say we should always forgive him for it. Or pretend it never happened at all.

Also, for better or worse, Mr. Burns does have money, in the fictional sense. I remain unconvinced about Trump. His life just seems to be the luckiest shell game of all time.

So humans have evolved to the point where they presume to calculate Structure Equation Models? This horse is impressed.

Anyway, before this shenanigans gets totally out of hand...
