Sweet Mary Mother of God where are we...

Sorry for the double post, Scot, but did you see the Twitter comments defending that girl? Saying things like, "Don't jump on a car if you don't want to get hit." She literally turned around and hit him as he was walking away.

Trump is holding a press conference at 2:00 (so actually more like 2:45-3:00) EST.

My heart dropped when I saw he's holding a press conference. Nothing good can possibly come out of it.

Indeed.  I have little doubt that Trump will continue to inflame the racial divide in an effort to win reelection.

But I can't help but wonder (and hope, SO MUCH) that this strategy might completely backfire.  Trump is counting on winning more white voters than he loses by encouraging white racial resentment.  But are there really a lot of voters out there who strongly feel white racial resentment who aren't already with Trump?  Because one of the key demographics in the 2018 backlash against Trump was white, college educated voters in relatively diverse suburban areas.  That is not a group that wants to see people running through the streets yelling "RACE WAR!"

I looked at that video three times, and it's hard to tell from the angle. He was on the hood of her car and rolled off onto the ground, and it may be that she actually swerved to get around him, not to run him over. You'd really need a view from the other side of the car.

Fear may have played a role here, she was surrounded by protestors and was blasting her horn to clear the way. If I was surrounded by people banging on my car I think I'd be pretty frightened too.

It sounds like the press conference is going to be about China. Once questions are taken, though, who knows what crazy territory it will go to.

Under normal circumstances, I'd say that it absolutely would backfire. But nothing seems to be normal anymore, so idk.

He will. Of course he will.

If you have half an hour, I think spending it on this article isn't the worst thing you can do.

That's a collective you, in case anyone wondered.

Ugh.  That was less of an article and more of a capsule textbook on specialized psychiatry.  Not so sure about the pop culture references.  Parts of it were repetitive.  That said, it's almost like the author was trying to hide his bias behind academic criteria, and I have to wonder how many other psychologists would agree with his reasoning even in private.

Walz, our Governor is holding one at 2pm Central Time.  Listen to that instead.  He already gave a decent interview this morning.

I don't think it would will backfire. There's no great distance between Nixon's America and Trump's America or Trump's America 2016 and Trump's America 2020.  If anything many Republicans I know who didn't vote Trump in the primaries or general are planning to vote for him this time around.

I think that is true, to some extent. However, he is quite open about his bias, so trying to hide it ... I'm not buying that one.

Speak boy. Not all of us are non-essential.

Hush you foul mouthed small handed lady!

President Dipshit gave a worthless press conference just bitching about China. He didn't address anything else, and ran out like a coward without taking questions.

Chuck Todd is correct. The man is literally and constantly afraid to lead.

Don't you worry, I'm sure he'll tweet something in the next 30 minutes.

Those activists on CNN were directly calling him out. One said something along the lines of "I have a message for Donald Trump and I want you all to make sure to get it to him."

I don't see how he will be able to resist responding. It's a direct challenge from a woman of color.

Biden sucks tho. Terrible human.

Tell you want, though, Ants. If Biden chooses Warren as his VP, then I'll get out there and Canvas for him. I'll go into the depth of the Chapo subreddits and campaign for him. And when we wins in November, we all can feel better. I think we know how I feel about Biden. But fuck Trump. The guy's a monster.

Didn't notice the edit for a while.

As a Warren supporter, I'm not sure she is the best VP choice. Not sure she moves the needle much more than any other progressive, and if Biden wins I'd rather see her in the Senate or Treasury than in something like VP, unless she goes Dick Cheney and starts running her own shop within the executive branch.

Damn I wanted to make the joke, but the city is burning, so best not.

Creepy going to the liquor store buying for four. There was nothing. Clearly everyone felt the same way. Stores are boarded up. You cannot go to the local Target. Cub, a local grocery chain, is nuts.

At least most people are wearing masks.

And thank god it's a cold, rainy looking day here. Maybe that will help stop some of the madness that's consuming our city.

It has been quiet down in my neck of the woods.
