Wait, is the US just getting this series now? It was last year we got it, i think during the summer?

Yes, watched in in the summer over here in Sweden, and I recall reviewing it in a past iteration of the Watched/Watching thread. Surprised that it didn't come out in the US at the same time, and indeed was held back for so many months. Wonder what the story is behind that.

I've read the Kuang books and im not see if I can see an adaptation succeeding. The main character isn't likable at all along with all the fantasy elements that make something like this difficult.

Wasn't she suppose to be on the leads in a Mandalorian spin-off, Rangers of the New Republic or something like that?

It's not entirely clear, as not a lot of detail was ever released about what viewers could expect, from a casting perspective, at least.

The Last of Us HBO adaptation casts GOT's Bella Ramsey (Lyanna Mormont) as Ellie.   Mahershala Ali was considering/considered for the role of Joel but that didn't work out.  Safe to say their looking for a big name for it.

Well, that was fast:  It's Pedro Pascal!  I'm already telling jokes about Lyanna Mormont being cast as Baby Yoda.  I don't know the game, but same Lone Wolf & Cub dynamic, right?
