Here's Looking At You, Kid
On 7/11/2020 at 9:38 AM, zandru said: "Brought ruin"?? How so? Jon has greatly expanded the number of Night's Watchmen, even more necessary after the massacres at the Fist of the First Men and Craster's Keep. He's opened up several of the abandoned castles on the Wall. He's saved tens of thousands of people who were living north of the Wall, and enlisted them in its defense. He's brought back the actual mission of the Watch, to defend against the Others. He's arranged for food and supplies, a crucial situation since lower Westeros remains ravaged by wars, tributes had been scanty for years, and winter has arrived. So how is Jon supposed to have "ruined" the Watch? And sorry about bringing in one of the endless, fruitless controversies instead of just listing them! We are going off topic but since you are asking - Jon's sin was to interfere with Ramsay Bolton's business. Jon was wrong to do that. He should never have sent Mance Rayder on that mission. He dragged the watch into something it should never have been involved with. Mance Rayder is a sworn brother of the night's watch. Sending him on that mission is just as bad as if Jon went away to get Arya.
