If you work 9 to 5 5 days a week you can be forgiven for coasting if there's some dead time but you'd be expected to give 100% surely when things are actually on the line. If your work consists of 90 minutes at most twice a week then you damn sure should be giving 100% every time, especially if  fans are paying money to pay you hundreds of thousands a week so that can be your job.

:lmao:

You must realize they work a lot more than that. Hell, the cliche line here for American football is that we pay guys to train Monday through Saturday, the Sundays are for free. But either way, it's pretty human, whether on the pitch or in a corporate office setting to see shit collapsing and stop giving a fuck.

You must realise that if Messi slacks off for 40 minutes in training I don't care.

Obviously they train throughout the week but what they train for is those 90 minutes. It is nonsensical to compare that to a regular job where you're working with direct impact all the time.

Ever been in a meeting that's scheduled for an hour and you realize five minutes into it that it's a waste of your time?

Ah so what you're saying is that even Messi was at his best he's not got anything to add to a football game so him sitting out and not contributing makes no difference.

Strange attitude to take about at worst the second greatest player of all time but if you believe so yeah that's fair enough.

eta: that's a miss and a half by Sterling

Did you see the score? I get why he checked out midway through the game.

There's a solid argument to be put forward that Pep knocked City out as much as Lyon did.

His tendency to always overthink these Champions League knock out games is getting a bit weird. Ok Lyon did well against City last year but, firstly, they had a better team last year with Fekir, Ndombele and Mendy and, secondly, they finished 7th in Ligue 1 this year. Why are City changing their system to match up with Lyon?
