Whitmer going to see Biden doesn't mean she will be picked.  I'd still put the odds in the 90s that he picks a woman of color.  In fact, this being leaked could suggest it's a way to get her activists off his back.

I agree that its probably a woman of color.

It doesn't seem like this was a leak though. Earlier tonight there was a story that had some real "Is Kawhi signing with the Lakers?" energy; reporting that there had been a charter plane that went from Lansing to Delaware Coastal Airport and back again last weekend. And after that it was confirmed the two met.

Also, it was a few days afterwards that Whitmer made that statement about racism being a public health emergency in Michigan and doing a couple small actions. Could be coincidence, could be her trying to get something on her record quickly on racial issues.

not everything is scientific is fine, but there's an abyss between reasonably scientific and the dungeon master's guide.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, I can't let this one slide, because this is clearly the important stuff I should be spending my time on, but the random dungeon tables in the back of the book accurately predicted the 2016 election: Hillary was eaten by a gelatinous cube in room N08.

Remember that quest to get the zombie in season 7?

That's D&D.

Harsh, but true.

I'm honestly unclear on how any of this indicates it wasn't a leak.  Regardless, doesn't really matter.

In a total 2020 twist, Trump and Republicans helping Kayne find his way on the ballot means they'll fuck something up and Kanye will somehow get elected...

Question: would Kanye be more of a fuck up than Trump... or less? I'm having a difficult time answering that.

I'm saying the AP did some investigative journalism about flight plans, and if they hadn't we never would've heard about the meeting. It wasn't a leak, it was confirmation of a story.

Heh, it's funny you don't think that's based on a leak, but this isn't something I care to argue about so sure whatever.

So to me it looks like the reason the stimulus talks went nowhere is so now Trump can claim he's gonna save the American people via executive action. What are the chances this is the reason for the failures, and that this strategy pays off?

While it could have scored points during the previous couple years, I am not sure how much the smoke and mirrors of executive orders could possibly lead to a payoff this time around.  As a Federal policy manager myself, I'm not terribly impacted by these orders (beyond reporting requirements).  While the media loves to make them into major coups, if you read the text, it usually amounts to something about studying the feasibility of X position or considering whether Y situation is detrimental to Z position.  There is always a caveat at the end that federal law takes precedence.

I have to think that with 5 million infected, 160k dead, and several million recently unemployed, that the X degrees from Kevin Bacon is closer to 1 at this point for most voters.

I’m traveling quite a bit around the upstate of South Carolina for my current job.  In urban and suburban I’m seeing a lot of signs supporting Jamie Harrison for US Senate.  It’s interesting because Greenville County has traditionally been extremely conservative.  Sadly, while in rural areas I’m seeing a fair number of “Trump 2020” flags (not signs flags) posted in people’s front yards and on trucks.

Lindsey Graham is nowhere to be seen.

I've read every EO from Truman through Obama - multiple times unfortunately - and yeah, over half of them are entirely pointless, and much of the other half either defer to legislation or are mainly advisory messages to agencies like Obama's EOs on gun control policy.  There's also a good amount of EOs that are rescinding previous EOs - Reagan did this a lot.  But, a small percentage, maybe 10-15%, do have significant impact on policy outcomes.

I'm sure Lindsey Graham says the same thing whenever he looks in a mirror.

If Graham is bending to Trump for fear of his homosexuality being revealed to the world he’d to better to just come out of the closet.  I don’t know anyone in South Carolina who thinks Graham is a straight man.

Is there any evidence for this besides his never having been married and having a voice that fits gay stereotypes? Maybe he's asexual.

I don't think speculating on Lindsey Graham's sexuality matters one way or another.  South Carolina has elected him as Senator 3 times, and 4 times as a congressman before that.  They obviously don't care.  The difference this time has nothing to do with whether he's merely a southern gentleman or a southern gentleman.

Maybe he's trans! Maybe he's pansexual or semi-sexual or non-conforming!

Or maybe he's obviously a hypocritical piece of shit bigot who isn't worth your sympathetic projections.

Well there was a gay escort who said that Graham was a regular client of his, and encouraged other escorts to come out and expose Graham's hypocrisy.  I don't remember if other guys came forward or not, since I don't particularly care about his sexuality either way.
