I thought of Penny and Tyrion performing in the arena but surely they are human and why would you have needed to research their genders?

From your comment above I thought 'race' might be a hint and the answer might be described as a 'race' of human ('ish) people considered by some (presumably slavers) as unfit to be slaves and whose composition by gender you were initially unsure of.

Which got me nowhere, so I share it here in case someone else can make something of it.

I suppose I could ask, do we know the names of any of the individuals in the group or are they just a group described in general terms?

I have a crazy idea. It’s the men in Quaithe’s prophecy

Quote

Kraken and dark flame, lion and griffin, the sun's son and the mummer's dragon.

Kraken: Victarion

Dark flame: Marwyn perhaps?

Lion: Tyrion

Griffin: Jon Connington

Sun’s son: Quentyn

Mummer’s dragon: fAegon’s

Hmmm. No names known and could be either sex -  explains the difficulty in deciding whether they were all men or not. May have had to look up 'theories' on the wiki.

But although Qaith is seen on page in company with Dany I would say the others are mentioned on page. But maybe that's arguable.

The world is not just east and west.

I was wondering if these non-natives of Essos are necessarily from Westeros or they may be from the islands. But I didn't want to waste a question on that until I had a more definite idea about some island people. There are also seamen, like pirates, showing up there, but they could be from anywhere.

OK, so...

Are these people from Sothoryos?

@Lilac & Gooseberries, would you like to take part in an Acrophobia game? One is just about to start and we need more players. Jez and Castellan have already signed up.
