What if Jaime captured Ned?

So near the end of the episode, Jaime tells the Lannister guards with him to "Take [Ned] alive. Kill his men." Then for some reason, he decides to leave Ned in the street with a spear in his leg and leaves to join up with his father who is calling his banners. Now what if Jaime decided to follow through on his own order by tossing Ned on his horse and taking him prisoner?

He’d be in the control of Tywin at this point. Tywin would know the implications of killing Ned so he’d never do it. Instead, he’d probably trade Ned for Tyrion and force Robb to swear fealty to Joffrey. If Robert still dies, Stannis and Renly still style themselves as the rightful king, but the North likely stays out of the War IF Sansa and Arya are returned home. The war becomes less interesting as The North, Vale and Iron Islands stay neutral.

I can see Littlefinger using the stark daughters as pawns to strengthen his own position, but if not, the Stark family stays intact and the banners are never called.

Knowing Littlefinger, he might be a creep anyways.
