For example: Tyrion Lannister and Ramsay Bolton. Both are men whose fathers are cold and ruthless, who are disliked by said fathers but are forced to rely on them as possible heirs due to lack of options (Jaime joining the Kingsguard, all of Lord Bolton’s children dying). Each is from a part of society that makes them undesirable; Tyrion is a dwarf which makes him all but a bastard, while Ramsay is a bastard and greatly resents this. Both are married to Sansa Stark; but while Tyrion tried to protect her, Ramsay raped Sansa. Both also murdered their fathers. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Both are affable individuals who were in training to be maesters and chafed at the Citadel's stagnation. However they go about it different ways; Sam wants to help the world and defend it while Qyburn performs illegal experiments in service to a corrupt regime. Both are sadistic bastards (literally and figuratively) who were engaged to and abused Sansa Stark; Joffrey by having his bodyguards beat her, Ramsay by raping her. Both are responsible for the deaths of young children; Joffrey by ordering the deaths of King Robert's bastards and Ramsay by feeding his half-brother to his dogs. Both also suffered horrific deaths that were facilitated by Sansa Stark; Joffrey died by poison brought unknowingly by Sansa while Ramsay was fed to his hounds by Sansa leaving their cages open. The difference between them is that Joffrey is all talk and no action, while Ramsay is shown to be a frighteningly effective torturer, schemer, and fighter. Rose of Red Lake Posted December 16, 2020 Share Posted December 16, 2020 Melisandre and Varys: both slaves, both died in Westeros, deaths were quietly martyr-like, both changed their beliefs about Stannis and Daenerys, going with someone else (Jon). Both had partners standing by (Jon and Selyse). Both harm little children for what they think is right (book Varys at least). One difference though is that Mel didn't challenge Stannis to his face like Varys challenged Dany. Jon and Dany mirror: Both got tricked and then surprise-stabbed. Both are elderly people who are social climbers and have no problem berating their children in public; Olenna does so with Mace "Not now Mace, Lord Tywin and I are talking", Walder berates Stevron and Ryger for their attempts to correct his behavior towards Catelyn. Neither shows any problem killing a king at a wedding. Olenna however does so with a grandmotherly smile while Walder wears a contemptuous sneer.
