Blackfyre kingdom in Essos?

Recommended Posts

Dothraki might be major reason. After all they would try to wipe out any political entity who would not give them enough gifts. So any population center that is not either well protected by nature (like Braavos) or strong enough (like Volantis) would either had to pay their protection fee or suffer cavalry raids carried out by khalasars.

Just in theory Blackfyres could have taken over already existing city (like Pentos) but then they would had had to defend that city and so most of their available forces would have been bound for that purpose.

Dothraki is one thing, another is the free cities neighbouring such new state would probably ally and try to annihilate it. As far as I understand they claim surrounding territories and fight against each other to control large parts of interior, so Blackfyres would have to take away some land from them or look for crappy places like the one where stone men dwell, between Qohor and Norvosi zones of interest at Rhoyne.

Taking over one of the cities would make the situation even hotter imo.

Dothraki logically shouldn't be that much of a threat once kingdom is established, but as pointed out, Dothraki combined with neighbouring states which would likely not look favourably upon new political entity would mean a likely insurmountable obstacle in establishing the kingdom in the first place.

Why didn’t the Blackfyres use the Golden company to conquer and set up a kingdom in Tryosh or another part of Essos. That would give them a better power base for future invasions of Westeros?

No dragons , Neighbors with larger armies ., Pale Mare and no exploitable land or populations .

Yeah the cleaner, safer option would be for the Blackfyres to go south to conquer the Summer Islands or go further east to Slaver's Bay, Qarth or maybe even Asshai.

Or the Blackfyres could've set up shop beyond the Wall and (forcibly) establish a kingdom with the wildlings as their subjects.

They tried, eventually: It was called the War of the Ninepenny Kings.

The Band of the Nine, which included Maelys Blackfyre, leader of the Golden Company, conquered the Stepstones, and used that kingdoms as a launching point from which they conquered Tyrosh for Alequo Adarys and intended to conquer Lys, the Summer Islands and the Seven Kingdoms among other territories (each one of the members of the Band of the Nine would get their own realm...).

When they reached the point of becoming a real threat to the Seven Kingdoms, King Jaehaerys II Targaryen sent an army to stop them.
