Speaking of polls, you have to laugh at the Rasmussen one today that shows Trump up by 1 nationwide. Not only does it bring the poll averages down, its now a chance for Trump to tout it and enthuse his supporters.

The latest in a long line of people and orgs willing to give up every ounce of dignity and reputation in service to Donald Trump.

I was surprised by that. Usually Rasmussen plays it straight in the last couple weeks before an election, so they can point to how accurate they were last time when the next election cycle starts up. At this rate they're going to end up the next Zogby (though Trafalgar may have already taken that mantle).

Rose Garden redux!

After tonight’s vote to confirm Barrett, the WH is going to hold a confirmation party, outside at the WH! Presumably in the Rose Garden!

This is where the God of the Old Testament is supposed to strike them all down with lightning, right?

Hopefully they have a nice big group hug to celebrate the victory. I want to see a lot of high fiving, and some singing too. Maybe a merry dance line.

Even more laughable is them having his approval at 52-46!

I recall disagreeing with this depiction a few weeks back.  Either way, guess there's still a week left for them to change course.

Oooooh, I get to use “body man” again!

One of the 5 people around Pence who has Covid-19 is his body man, Zach Bauer. And yet it’s full speed ahead on campaigning!

And Mark Meadows in that Sunday interview on CNN said they were not naming names because of privacy rights. If it were the President or the VP they would say. Yet these guys are people surrounding the VP. You’d think that was important enough.

Forcing Trump to use resources to compete for Texas is a big deal.

Trump is hoping that a combination of neglect and partisanship will carry him over the line in Texas.  Reminiscent of the Clinton strategy in Michigan and Wisconsin.

The description Nate Cohn is providing sounds very much like one where Democrats flip the Texas House.  It was gerrymandered in 2010 when the suburbs were safely red, and that is putting a bunch of seats in play that were thought to be "safe".  If Democrats don't get a seat at the table for this round of redistricting, then the lines will be drawn to protect a slim majority with a bunch of R+15 seats.  If the Democrats want any hope of taking state power in Texas before 2032, it needs to be now.

Speaking of Meadows, he has doubled down on his remarks that "we are not going to control the pandemic. So the admin has surrendered. What happened to the good old days when the Republicans would call for a very powerful and masculine surge to deal with the situation?

About the Texas poll, Nate Cohn mentioned its about 5% undecided since 4% are voting for 'other'. Also note that he himself admits the 2018 polls did not accurately account for Texas hispanics, and it isnt clear if 2020 is any better. (Edit: I read somewhere that Beto outperformed the Siena/NYT polls by 4 points, so anything is possible).
