On the brightside, if things don't turn and Trump steals the election, his stance on the virus will likely help kill off a lot of his supporters...?

Won't matter if we get more justices that are down to block voting rights.

I'm quite surprised so many fell for the red mirage.

When you had all this outstanding vote in the big Midwest urban centers your talking about areas that can go 90+% for Democrats.

The Wisconsin, MI., Penn, swings are not surprising if you've been following how prognosticators said these votes would come in chronologically. It's why I stayed up late to see the late wave come in from Milwaukee in the wee hours. None of that was surprising, it was exciting though lol.

Biden has rebuilt the blue wall and added Ariz and Nevada will hold blue as well.

What we can be disappointed by is how poorly we did in the senate/house races. Woeful underperformance there sadly.

I'm torn between wondering if "lol, nothing matters" and Democrats might as well swing to their fences with nominees going forward; or if, as far as the electoral college goes, we truly are a center-right nation and Biden's the only one cycle who could've barely hung on in the right states and won (assuming he does in the end).

At this point in the morning, I'm simply more concerned with a little bit of petty rage.  Nothing to do with the politics.  If he steals this, he's going to get a lot of people killed, especially amongst his followers.

Not sure it actually was an underperformance given the turnout. More like underestimating Twitler's (and the GOP's) reservoir of voters. And that's the really dismaying thing.

This is further evidence (as if it was needed) that money has rapidly diminishing returns in campaigns considering the Dems' fundraising advantage in both chambers.

Also underestimating just how many Hispanic Americans don't usually vote but liked Trump a whole. If you look at raw votes, Biden beat Clinton's hispanic numbers almost everywhere; but, for instance, Trump found an extra 200,000 votes in Miami-Dade.

And it's not just Cubans. Look at the Rio Grande Valley numbers, there's some jaw-dropping swings towards Trump and its all additional votes since 2016; Biden beat Clinton's numbers there too.

Yeah I've been hesitant to mention it because I really do not want to give the impression latinx voters should be "blamed," but their rightward shift will be one of (if not) the main stories of this election.  A slight drop in the margins was expected - and the Biden camp bears responsibility for that - but nobody saw this type of shift coming.

Rumoredly that was down to constant messaging vote Democrat = vote for socialism, which found fertile grounds among Cubans and Venezuelans.

Either way, I am going out on a limb here. The vast majority of those voters were male.

Oh hell yeah. Lots of men want a daddy, and Trump promises to be an orange daddy to all.

He already has, and they support him anyways.

The latter. The us isnt a center right country but the system it has favors center right politics for potus (and largely senate too). Swinging for the fences with a progressive might get you a very gaudy popular vote, but it will lose you the potus very fast.
