Arya dreams of killing a lot of people.  She has a list of people to kill.  That could easily expand to the population of a city.

You accidentally hit the nail on the head. She has a list of people to kill. People who she feels deserve to die for what they did. People she wants revenge on. Why would she want revenge on the population of a whole city.

And like I said, the girl is barely holding on to her sanity.

Based on what? She seems very sane to me.

I've never expected bullshit taking this big of a scale.

Read the rest of this thread then...

Seriously though, the idea of Arya blowing up KL fails to recognize Arya's character and personality besides the surface level details.

I can believe this of Arya.  Arya's defense lawyer should look up what's in store for Arya.  The sneak-peek chapters from The Winds of Winter paints a very ugly picture of Arya Stark.  Detonating explosives to send her enemies to the gods is not going to be a problem for Arya.  The other casualties are offerings to the gods too.

Maybe, but this thread is unique in that it's now been brought back from the dead, what is it, three, four times?

Personally, I think it may well end up being an accident. That little tidbit of wildfire growing more unstable with time seems like it is there for a reason...

Maybe Hot Pie searching for a pie and accidentally knocking a cup of wildfire over?

And some pretty crappy Palpatine like ones too

If you're talking about the Rise of Sandwalker, that's not Palpatine, that's Jake, Palpatine's look alike with none of his intelligence or any of his other traits really.

Somebody finds out and it forces an evacuation of the city.  Many will choose to stay because it's cold outside but most will see the wisdom of leaving.  The Wisdom will have no control after the substance has become unstable.  It's like the problem of what to do with nuclear waste today and war weapons which now have no place.  Un-exploded bombs and land mines from wars are still dangerous.

Or, according to this wonderful fair and balanced thread, go and blow up King's Landing, a city she has no particular connection too other then the place her father died, a city she doesn't ever think about

Well to be honest, this isn't true.

Arya does still think about King's Landing. One of the aliases she adopts is Cat of the Canals. Cat, according to Arya, is an orphan from King's Landing who has emigrated to Braavos. It's an very obvious reference to her mother and the Riverlands but it also rests on the fact that she is obviously a foreigner.

Why not just say Cat is an orphan from White Harbor, Gulltown or Saltpans? But no, Cat is from King's Landing.

Arya has not forgotten King's Landing. She's not going to go postal and blow up the city...but she will likely return to it.

Arya will go special delivery postal on KL when she hears what happened to Jon.

Does any of this make sense? In the unlikely event of Jon's death being broadcast on Fox, sorry, DireWolf news all over Planetos(why would poor Loyal Bowen and Co spread the news, or can they, with Tormund and Wildlings out for revenge and Melisandre realizing he's part of the prophecy from to her visions and resurrecting him) , and in the unlikely event of Arya getting mad to seek revenge (she was quite literally at her own mom's and brother's assassination and IIRC, she didn't go Mrs Michael Myers) why the heck will she go to burn KL while her brother was assassinated at Castle Black, The Wall, The North, Westeros PIN 236812. Add question marks wherever needed.

Since this shit thread is still going I'll share my favorite book quotes about this.

Imagery of Dany and Viserys getting introduced next to the DOOM of Valyria

Quote

Inside the manse, the air was heavy with the scent of spices, pinchfire and sweet lemon and cinnamon. They were escorted across the entry hall, where a mosaic of colored glass depicted the Doom of Valyria. Oil burned in black iron lanterns all along the walls. Beneath an arch of twining stone leaves, a eunuch sang their coming. "Viserys of the House Targaryen, the Third of his Name," he called in a high, sweet voice, "King of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm. His sister, Daenerys Stormborn, Princess of Dragonstone. His honorable host, Illyrio Mopatis, Magister of the Free City of Pentos."

Dany having a vision of her future here, maybe:

Quote

"It was King's Landing and the great Red Keep that Aegon the Conqueror had built. It was Dragonstone where she had been born. In her mind's eye they burned with a thousand lights, a fire blazing in every window. In her mind's eye, all the doors were red."  - Daenerys III, AGOT

Similar imagery:

Quote

"A dozen great fires raged under the city walls, where casks of burning pitch had exploded, but the wildfire reduced them to no more than candles in a burning house, their orange and scarlet pennons fluttering insignificantly against the jade holocaust." - Tyrion ACOK

May be foreshadowing for House Targaryen setting their buildings on fire; House Targaryen setting their own "house" on fire.

Quote

"Corruption!" the man cried shrilly. "There is the warning! Behold the Father's scourge!" He pointed at the fuzzy red wound in the sky. From this vantage, the distant castle on Aegon's High Hill was directly behind him, with the comet hanging forebodingly over its towers. A clever choice of stage, Tyrion reflected. "We have become swollen, bloated, foul. Brother couples with sister in the bed of kings, and the fruit of their incest capers in his palace to the piping of a twisted little monkey demon. Highborn ladies fornicate with fools and give birth to monsters! Even the High Septon has forgotten the gods! He bathes in scented waters and grows fat on lark and lamprey while his people starve! Pride comes before prayer, maggots rule our castles, and gold is all . . . but no more! The Rotten Summer is at an end, and the Whoremonger King is brought low! When the boar did open him, a great stench rose to heaven and a thousand snakes slid forth from his belly, hissing and biting!" He jabbed his bony finger back at comet and castle. "There comes the Harbinger! Cleanse yourselves, the gods cry out, lest ye be cleansed! Bathe in the wine of righteousness, or you shall be bathed in fire! Fire!"

This dude using the comet, as a sign for what happens to King's Landing. No one has more associations to that damn comet than Daenerys.

That defence lawyer should probably check in with GRRM first to find out what he thinks Arya might do.

Tyrion. Based on where and how we see him last and his comments at his trial.  Part of him would enjoy it, part of him would see it as justice and I think the rest of him would see the horror of what he'd done about as soon as he did it.  I don't have the handle on the next two books that some people do but he just seems to be getting darker and angrier and more prone to casual murder.  Sometimes I think that something will happen to Penny and it will push him over the edge, but I wonder too if he won't go over the edge first and kill her himself. I suspect that either way, once she's done there won't be left any of the loveable dwarf from Game and Clash.

It would be such a tragic point for so many of us who have followed the character for years, an ultimate betrayal of his victory over Stannis.  I don't think anyone else pulling it off could have the same emotional impact for us readers. Maybe Dany, but that's just so obvious any two dimwits with a camera crew and a license could have come up with it, so I suspect that George will us hit with something a little punchier.
