US Politics- One Flew over the Cuckcoup’s Nest

Military tells Pelosi that she and the House and Senate must block him from this; due to chain of command they cannot.  And she can't either.

Is there anything Milley can do to prevent the president from “accessing the launch codes and ordering a nuclear strike”?

The answer is emphatically no. The president, and the president alone, possesses the sole authority to order a nuclear launch, and no one can legally stop him or her. Despite reports that Pelosi received assurances that there are safeguards in place in the event the president of the United States (POTUS) wants to launch a nuclear weapon, any such meaningful or effective safeguards would be illegal.

Going back to what I said a few pages ago. About Twitler supporters being angry and surprised over being thrown under the bus.

Guardian link.

Like I said, I assume that's pretty much the end of that political dynasty after its first generation. Clearly not the Republican Kennedys.

Simple: they're idiots.

Just sequester the guy with the football. We all know what he looks like thanks to those new years eve pictures from Mar a Lago. I remember thinking at the time,"I'm pretty sure we're not supposed to know what that guy looks like, on account of him carrying the football."

VIAGRA.

There I said it. You all thought it, but your American prudeness kept you from saying it. Yes, Joe Biden takes boner pills. Deal with it.

Murkowski making statements that sound like the things she might say if she was considering becoming the 51st vote in the Democratic caucus (as an indie of course, not a Dem).

I understand the impulse but I don't think having "domestic terrorism" being a crime in its own right would be a positive thing.  It would one inevitably be abuses in horrific ways.

There are plenty of existing crimes to charge them with.

edit:. huh, I see they we do have that as an actual crime:

I guess this would be a decent place to use it but I have some pretty serious 'slippery slope' concerns.

Yeah, also laws like that will 100% be disproportionately be used against the left rather than the right wing psychos who actually commit those sorts of crimes.

Interesting.  I am still sort of wondering if Romney would as well.  They can caucus with Manchin.  (That's a joke, btw).

Btw, Dominion has hired one of the very best of the best in terms of legal teams on the defamation side.  They are not letting it go, believe me.

I might agree with you if there were enough credible eye-witnesses to testify to that. Second hand "sources say" stuff isn't enough. I'm hoping some of those staffers can be persuaded to tell their story publicly.

Not sure I get what you are trying to say. I am just trying to say that I want these people punished. If it means waiting until after the 20th to make sure that happens I am ok with that.

There will be fewer convictions and lighter sentences because arresting someone on the scene is pretty ironclad where identifying them after the fact is very assailable in court.

It's very sad you've had to reiterate this basic concept dozens of times in the past 48 hours.

I have no idea what you mean by this, if you wouldn’t mind explaining, please?

I think she means the contrast of the Right's reaction to this shooting and George Floyd (to pick from too many examples)

If Floyd hadn't resisted, then this never would have happened. All he had to do was comply.

Babbit was unarmed! Why did they shoot her? She didn't deserve that!

Polish said as much upthread. I get your meaning but I don't think you have to worry.

We went through this during the Michigan State riots in 1999. The local PD tracked down identified arrested and convicted all those invlolved. It took a few weeks and even months but it happened. Those were the days before YouTube social media and smartphones.   Much easier task today.
