GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy told House Republicans Monday that President Donald Trump bears some blame for last week’s deadly Capitol riots and has accepted some responsibility, according to four Republican sources on a private call.

McCarthy’s remarks came during a House GOP-wide conference call — their first meeting since a mob of pro-Trump rioters assaulted the Capitol building and left five people dead in an attempt to halt the certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s victory. McCarthy also told members that he urged Trump to call up Biden and congratulate him for his win, sources said.

shoggoth wanted pence executed.  how can pence even ... talk to him? be in the same breathing space, and no doubt w/o mask?  O wait they're both vaccinated or something or other for that latter. But sheesh, pence and cruz -- what lame cowardly nonentities they are.

Has L. Lin Wood been visited by the secret service? Given the events leading up to his poot, that was a pretty obvious death threat against Pence, which is not protected speech.

Well, this is terrifying. Good production values though.

Someone disgusted at Trump is exactly who I'd want to *stay* at DHS for the next 9 days, to avoid some treasonous appointee collaborating with whatever treason comes next.

The new Acting DHS is FEMA Administrator Pete Gaynor. After reading the cliff notes of his bio, there's nothing inherently Trump-like about him; except for the fact that he ended up in the administration in the first place. But the position he was originally appointed and senate confirmed to was Deputy Administrator of FEMA in 2018; which isn't that high up the totem pole. When the FEMA Administrator resigned, he was named Acting, and then senate confirmed last January in an 81-8 vote. And prior to joining FEMA he was actually part of a Democratic state government, he was the Director of the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency until 2018.

ABC put out a lengthy bio article on him back in March 2020: https://abcnews.go.com/Health/fema-chief-prepared-covid-19-challenge-colleagues/story?id=69761673

This is, according to reports, the reason he didn’t resign on the 6th. Either he’s satisfied safeguards are in place to stop Trump from doing anything really crazy, or he’s being pushed out by Trump for his disloyalty.
