Paxter
I always wonder what our non-cricket-loving Entertainment forumgoers think when they read our thread titles... Imagine what they'd think of "Smith the Crease Scratcher" :P.
Hereward
I’d have gone with “Reversion to the mean”.
Paxter
Haha. A less original one: “Australia is (still) a Paine in the arse.”

The Winged Shadow
Not buying into the Smith crease thing. I doubt anyone would've cared if things didn't get heated on that last day. People are just trying to pile on the pressure (which is fair enough). Even if there was malicious intent behind it, how is it cheating? Petty, sure, but cheating? Fuck off. Edit: Also, considering how well behaved Warner has been, he is clearly our next captain candidate! If only to piss off all the boarders
Hereward
Yes, the Smith “incident” was nothing. Good luck trying to erase the guard trenches on an Australian pitch made of granite. Not going to happen.
ljkeane
Agreed. It clearly didn't bother the Indian batsmen and it wouldn't surprise me if that's something Smith had a nervous habit of doing. He has about 22 others.
The Winged Shadow
It amazes me that anyone can even find a guard after 3rd day. That whole area looks absolutely butchered. Its amazing how everyone's leg/middle guard is different
Paxter
A few comments on England's team/selection for this first test match: It looks like one J Bairstow is going to get another run in test cricket as a specialist batsman, in that cursed #3 slot. I know there is a lot of love for Jonny, but I'm sorry, an average of 34 over 70 matches doesn't cut it for me. He is 'keeper or not in the side. (No doubt he will get a century at Galle now). I know he's probably not going to play, but Foakes should be in the team and 'keeping. Buttler should just be playing as a batsman in these conditions, where you are going to be up to the stumps for a lot of the day. Foakes was man of the series in 2018... It's a real shame Mo can't play, though I'm looking forward to seeing what Leach can do. And no Pope or Stokes either. ETA: As for Sri Lanka...the return of Mathews and Chandimal is a big boost. Hard to pick a winner in this series.
TheLastWolf
I'm officially changing the title from Limping towards a new normal, just like Injury prone India to Paines in the Ashes Hope everyone's okay with it And, Thank you, @Paxter
Paxter
Feel sorry for Pucovski. That guy cannot catch a break.
Jeor
Yep, it's a wounded battlefield on both sides. India still much worse off though. If Bumrah is out, every pace bowler they field will essentially be a debutant in this series.
Hereward
Well, looks like Sri Lanka think they’re playing T20. Badly.
Xray the Enforcer
Damn. I knew that I probably wasn't going to be able to see much of this match, but I didn't think it was going to zip by like that!
Paxter
That Jonny...a natural number three!

Right up until the next time he gets bowled playing a big drive! I don’t think the rest of the team like him much, so he’ll probably be out of the team altogether again before long. ljkeane
So that went badly wrong for Sri Lanka then. A couple of my neighbours were meant to be going to Sri Lanka for the Galle test last year before it was cancelled. They were gutted when it was called off. It does look a great place to go to watch some cricket.

If only.
