Part of me is amazed that we still live in fear of asteroids at this point. Given's mankind's relentless quest for the best possible way to blow shit up, you'd think nuking dangerous asteroids would be something easy for our species.

I think the issue is that you could turn it into multiple rock fragments that might hit the earth anyway. And I’m not sure if we do actually have adequate delivery systems to hit an asteroid making its way for earth. Our weapons are not designed to hit things in space they are designed to hit land masses. Basically I think if an earth destroying asteroid was at our doorstep today we are probably fucked.

Outrageous behavior by Tesla. This can't be explained away as simple "mistakes".

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/03/29/tesla-double-charged-some-customers-for-new-cars.html

To make repeated $50-80 thousand dollar withdrawals out of customers accounts, above and beyond what was supposed to be withdrawn is one horrible mess. But to then turn around and drag heels and take no responsibility towards returning the money seems nothing short of criminal.

I truly hope a good Attorney General makes an example out of them for such blatant misbehavior.

I feel like I watched this on TV just a couple of months back...

I also find it...ironic(?) that Tesla is producing a car that is supposed to be eco friendly while accepting bitcoin...

Easter eggs on Good Friday or Easter Sunday? Religions that don't do Easter are missing out. Easter egg choc is 100% better than normal choc.

Hot cross buns on Friday, eggs on Sunday

5 days off work. What a dream. Even alone in self-isolation, it is a dream. I do miss my family and dogs, but staying at home on my own is something that comes rather easily to me. In a morbid way there’s even pleasure in it, because I’ve been craving free time spent on my own to do whatever I want and however I want around the house for many many many months. I think that makes it much easier. If I had been alone for over a year since the beginning of covid, it’d likely be more difficult to find peace and joy in this situation.

The one thing that does spoil it (aside from the fact that given the choice I would rather be in the country walking dogs) is the crippling worry that every single day my mother’s still not vaccinated is another chance for her to catch covid which may as well be life threatening. This is the one thing on my mind I can’t compensate with baking fruit cake and drinking tea and cleaning out candle jars to make a spice rack and fashioning plant supports from broken drying racks and cooking and Netflix and wardrobe and kitchen cabinet sorting and the rest.

Anyway. HAPPY EASTER to all who celebrate it! (it is also a shame that Easter church is cancelled for a second time in a row now... weird times)

Just learned that when the 13th century Paisley Abbey (in Scotland) commissioned for 12 new handcarved stone gargoyles, one of them is a xenomorph from Alien!

So that solves it. The Predator species were the ones who built the pyramids.

I'm all for using contemporary monsters for gargoyles/grotesques, it's in the exact spirit of the originals.

Like the Darth Vader grotesque at Washington National Cathedral:

While walking in my neighborhood this afternoon I browsed some boxes of books that had been on the curb since yesterday.

There were many SFF titles and also six lovely Discworld PB’s in good condition.  So I saved the Discworld ones from the landfill and gave them a good home. :read:   :)

It’s... er... snowing. Not right here, mostly in northern and eastern municipalities, but it’s kinda proof that the weather app isn’t talking nonsense when it promises snow for tomorrow.

Worth to note that it was 27C last Thursday.

I think we misread that Mayan calendar after all, and ‘12 was actually ‘21.
