But GRRM may have meant the Steller' s Sea Cow ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steller%27s_sea_cow , Hydrodamalis gigas), which, like mammoths and aurochsen, are extinct in the real world but still survive in GRRM's stories.
