A sequel. The ending the show couldn't cover because it would have required another season, and too many of the characters' stories had ended anyway, so D&D chose to end it as they did. But think about it. Where did the story end? Exactly where the story of the Night's King would begin (although the show screwed the pooch a little). Jon is north. Dany's body has been taken away by Drogon. Bran said he'd look for Drogon. Bran is known as Brandon the Broken. Tormund Giantsbane has gone back north of the wall. Jon Snow = "an evil name" Ygritte had said. Jon is the former lord commander, who has gone north of the wall and will find Daenerys there anew, not quite as she was, but she will be there in some way. He will unite with her again, as it had been foreshadowed when Daenerys said they could stay at the waterfall together for a thousand years. Tormund Giantsbane = Joramun and his horn of winter that could wake giants from the earth and bring the wall down. The horn was an analogy to his big cock that he always spoke of, so big it could please a giant, and it could bring down the wall because he literally went south of the wall. For the nobility it is quite clear that cousin and even avuncular marriages do not constitute incest (like in many real world societies, too, by the way). For the wildlings, it is already incest if you marry somebody from your own village. For the Faith incest just it is just (full) siblings having sex ... and parents and children. Everything else goes ... although one imagines that avuncular marriages are not that common. But cousin marriages to various degrees are quite common as can be seen by the Stark and Lannister family trees both as well as the recent marriages between the Tyrells and Redwynes. And that's only the cousin marriages we can identify ... cousin marriages through the female line where the involved parties have different house names are unknown to us. That seems to be more about Rhaena-Maegor proving the Targaryens were still determined to continue their custom of marrying within the family. The Faith's own definition defines incest as brother-sister and parents-children intercourse. Not to mention the High Septon's agenda there was to marry Maegor to his niece Ceryse.
