You know I'm no a UKer, so I've never heard of it.  Just as you surely haven't heard of countless horrible crimes committed by cops and other institutional types here in the USA, which are / were covered up / or judged 'not guilty.'  Not to mention the numerous crimes (nowhere near enough) which ended up in courts and financial and prison time reparations had to be made, that you never heard of.

That's okay. I wasn't aware of the case cited by the big man as the single biggest Met Police scandal.

Nevertheless, thank you for the information regarding the person involved.  Important to know, even if one didn't know before!

This woman received a 10 hour suspension for the public statement below… any officer who believes the law doesn’t apply to them… any officer who publicly states they can manufacture a reason to detain someone… they should have no place in Law Enforcement:

Yikes! They don't bother pretending anything any more.

Also, who ever thought women can't be real dicks?

Who ever would have thought women's public bathrooms are far more disgusting than men's? Wouldn't have guessed it, but it's true.

And the nazi cop needs to be fired yesterday.

She should be disciplined for her hair and makeup alone.

For real tho. She looks like a sun damaged barbie. She should only talk when someone pulls her string, and then I only wanna hear "Let's go to the mall, Ken!"

Insurers force change on police departments long resistant to it
The high cost of settlements over police misconduct has led insurers to demand police departments overhaul tactics or forgo coverage

https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/interactive/2022/police-misconduct-insurance-settlements-reform/?itid=hp-more-top-stories

Quote

.... That 2017 police chase was at the time the latest in a long line of questionable vehicle pursuits by officers of the St. Ann Police Department. Eleven people had been injured in 19 crashes during high-speed pursuits over the two prior years. Social justice activists and reporters were scrutinizing the department, and Cox and others were suing.

Undeterred, St. Ann Police Chief Aaron Jimenez stood behind the high-octane pursuits and doubled down on the department’s decades-old motto: “St. Ann will chase you until the wheels fall off.”

Then, an otherwise silent stakeholder stepped in. The St. Louis Area Insurance Trust risk pool — which provided liability coverage to the city of St. Ann and the police department — threatened to cancel coverage if the department didn’t impose restrictions on its use of police chases. City officials shopped around for alternative coverage but soon learned that costs would nearly double if they did not agree to their insurer’s demands.

Jimenez’s attitude swiftly shifted: In 2019, 18 months after the chase that left Cox permanently disabled, the chief and his 48-member department agreed to ban high-speed pursuits for traffic infractions and minor, nonviolent crimes.

“I didn’t really have a choice,” Jimenez said in an interview. “If I didn’t do it, the insurance rates were going to go way up. I was going to have to lose 10 officers to pay for it.”

Where community activists, use-of-force victims and city officials have failed to persuade police departments to change dangerous and sometimes deadly policing practices, insurers are successfully dictating changes to tactics and policies, mostly at small to medium-size departments throughout the nation.

The movement is driven by the increasingly large jury awards and settlements that cities and their insurers are paying in police use-of-force cases, especially since the 2020 deaths of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd. Those cases led to settlements of $12 million and $27 million, respectively. Insurance companies are passing the costs — and potential future costs — on to their law enforcement clients. ....

But for God’s sake, don’t kneel for the anthem. That’s just a step too far. That’s the person who should get countless death threats, be called traitor by the President, etc.

Why is she dressed like a Green Beret for fucking traffic stops?

I was talking to a new student to our ed program last week. She's in the military/national guard, and she's an MP (military police). She says that local police come in to train them sometimes, and it goes against everything the soldiers learned in their MP training--they learned restraint, friendliness when on gate duty and interacting with people, de-escalation tactics, etc. The police try to tell them that everything is dangerous, guns should always be at the ready, etc.

These cops think they're green berets, but they lack the discipline to be effective soldiers. Couple that with our police shouldn't even be comparable to any military, it's all just fucked up.
