Oh, c'mon Scotland. Mel Gibson died for you in the year of '95, so you can qualify as an independent nation for the k.o. stage.

Don'T let Mel Gibson down.

I suggest breeding a new hero, George Galloway crossed with Charles Kennedy should do the trick.

England look better in attack, mainly as a consequence of just giving the ball early to Saka and Grealish for them to run at defenders. The fullbacks seem to have more licence to get forward too. They're still not getting a grip of midfield though. They're not passing the ball well through midfield and, despite playing two defensive midfielders they don't look particularly solid either.

I've said it every game but pick one of Rice and Phillips (it's looking more and more like it should be Phillips) and play one of Bellingham or Henderson alongside them. Just play people in their actual positions.

Give Kennedy a drink and I’m sure he’d go for it.

Maguire's an excellent passer on normal days to be fair.

Yeah, Maguire is a very good passer most of the time.

I'm baffled why so many of our fans insist Rice is the solution to our midfield problems.

Because a lot of fans are idiots. Rice is a good player but he is not worth anywhere near what West Ham would demand. There are equivalent or better players that could be got for much less. If rumours are to be believed, Neves and Bissouma could be available for around £35m each - combined that's less than what West Ham would demand for Rice.

Alcoholic anti-Semites need no unifying qualities.

Mel Gibson combines all three things.

He was universally liked in the 1990s. And then he was universally disliked, just like Alex Salmond.

Thus Mel Gibson is right now superior to your new breed.

Southgate, the only manager in football whose half-time team talks apparently consist of hauling in the forwards and telling them off for being too creative.

Can Jose be forgotten so quickly?
