Channel 4 in the UK has decided to show 9/11 documentaries this week and next, and put R&M Season 5 on hold. With only two episodes to go, that's weird. The ninth episode doesn't air until September 5th in the US either.

Ghostlydragon
I haven't seen it yet but it sounds as if S5 is a lot weaker than what came before, although I felt the same about s4. Has R&M already hit its peak or is it not as bad as I hear?

I'd rank it around the quality of S4 overall.
Kalbear
Without seeing the end it's really hard to say; S4's end ep was pretty awesome and hitting a lot of continuity porn, but up until then it had episodes like the slutty dragons. The dragon episode was one of my least favorite last season, but there were a lot of quality episodes like the opener where Morty uses the death crystals to try to find a way to die old with Jessica (the post credit scene was amazing), the second episode where Rick tries to find who used his toilet, the heist send-up, the snake time travel episode, the train episode, the vat of acid episode (one of the best in the series imo), and the aforementioned finale. There were a few duds, but overall I thought it was a solid season. And there are at least two duds in basically every season of Rick & Morty, so that's nothing new. Last season had three, and overall wasn't as good as season three, but I really don't see why people thought it was so bad. Plenty of rewatchable episodes there. Yesssss...but...even though I loved it, I did, agree with what you're saying...if I had any issues, it was that there wasn't even a moment to breathe and process what they were throwing out. So minor issue? (Mind you, I realize Adult Swim will be reshowing these episodes ad nauseum for a few weeks, so more viewings!) Everything was great in episode 10, even though it wasn't the resolution for the Citadel story I was expecting...
Werthead
It did feel like a dig at the fans by the creators. "Happy now?" as Ricky says at one point, and his loathing of canon and yearning for episodic stories is made clear. The irony, of course, is that many of the show's strongest episodes come from it leaning into previous ideas and characters.
Ran
Terrific final pair of episodes, especially the finale, I thought. Music was on point for that episode, particularly the brain recorder playthrough and then Evil Morty’s escape from the Central Finite Curve (though I’m sure that one has been used before). Couldn’t find it in any Rick and Morty entry on spotify. “For the Damaged Coda” is the title of the song. It’s a good one. ETA: The song from the penultimate episode, "Borrowed Time", is by Tennis, for those wondering. Liked that one as well. Rippounet
Fantastic end for the season. Rick & Morty is that show that somehow keeps going beyond my expectations in almost every single way. It's always more crazy, gory, cringy, funny, or -in this case- continuity-heavy than I expect. I guess it's the entire point of the show though, to always go one step beyond others. And whatever Harmon's obviously complicated relationship with continuity/canon, the main story behind Rick & Morty is very good. And for all the latest reveals, there's still a lot of unanswered questions, and a lot of potential for future developments/plot twists/reveals. Deadlines? What Deadlines?
So... Spoiler Were the realities in the central finite curve destroyed or are they just no longer walled off from the non-curve realities? A loooooooot of Ricks and Mortys dies in that episode. Rippounet
I'd say they're no longer walled off. Which means we could potentially have new aliens/characters who are smarter than Rick. It opens a looot of narrative possibilities.
Veltigar
I'm surprised by the love the last two episodes got. I thought they were very average and frankly reminded me a lot of Disney's Loki series.

Interesting, considering that for me Loki was very clearly trying to rip off Rick and Morty and not doing a particularly good job of it. It's a rip-off within a rip-off within a rip-off. If we go any deeper, we'll probably meet Leonardo Dicaprio
