Winterfell is Burning
I wonder if England will be eliminated with it's best player (Sancho) on the bench? Seems very likely, and would get a manager fired everywhere else.
Consigliere
Grealish coming on. Let's see if he can make a difference.
Soylent Brown
He'll win bunch of free kicks, and give away a few too, but other than that, probably not.
Consigliere
Yeah. England's attacking problems go deeper than just personnel. I remember everyone demanding Grealish to come on against Scotland and when he did, he ended up doing fuck all too. Southgate is just way too conservative. Even Phillips and Rice are much more adventurous with their play at their respective clubs but here it appears they've been instructed to just hold and play very simple passes. ETA. Sterling again. His general play has not been the best but it appears he's the only one who can actually score.

ljkeane
Sterling’s general play hasn’t been the best still but, credit to him, at least he’s finding a way to come up with some end product. ETA: Jesus after talking him up Sterling with a horrendous pass but Muller bails him out.
Consigliere
Muller should have buried that.

Soylent Brown
I can't believe we might be doing this comfortably. Surely not? Not surprising to see Declan Rice down with cramp, having been running round like an idiot for no good reason. Any team that buys him for £60m+ is a very silly team indeed. polishgenius
Obviously it's not the only thing here but opponents have to go to Grealish, his gravity is incredible. He makes space. That was a factor in both goals.
Consigliere
England have been better in the 2nd half. Grealish did make a difference and it appears that Shaw and Grealish link up better than Shaw and Sterling.

ljkeane
Bit of a mixed bag I suppose. I still don't think England played well and Germany aren't, by their standards, a particularly good side but ultimately it was a fairly comfortable win.
Corvinus85
For all the criticisms, Southgate's England have done a couple of things now at major tournaments: 1) broke the penalty kicks curse 2) Ended the German jinx. And England still maintain a clean sheet, albeit with luck.
