I'm in favor of skipping the mandates and just flying drones around injecting people.

So Biden tapped a gun-control advocate to direct the ATF.  Shockingly, his confirmation looks to be in serious doubt:

Quote

Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin said Monday that “there are a lot of issues” with President Joe Biden’s pick to oversee the nation’s firearm regulations.

The Senate has yet to move forward on David Chipman’s nomination to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. A handful of moderate Democrats, including Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Jon Tester (D-Mont.), have yet to say whether they’ll support his nomination.

Durbin acknowledged Monday that the whip count “is not where we want it yet, but there’s always a chance.”

With Senate Republicans likely to unanimously oppose Chipman’s nomination, Democrats can’t afford to lose a single vote in their 50-member caucus. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has described Chipman as an “anti-gun extremist,” while moderate Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) said he’s made statements that “demean law-abiding gun owners.”

To be fair, since the position became Senate confirmable in 2006, only one nominee has been confirmed - B. Todd Jones in 2013.  Incidentally, Jones is now the chief disciplinary officer for the NFL.

Rethugs are all in with fascism, no longer even pretending to hide that,  while the Dems are more terrified of mass action to resist fascism than they are of fascism itself. That pretty much sums it up.

Reading things like this just makes me think of the final days of the Republic in star wars, where everyone is corrupt and no one cares about the people.  And then it gets worse.

Many private organizations have already mandated vaccination for the workers, but from what I have seen so far, the government probably will not mandate it until the vaccines are fully approved. In theory, this can come as late as January, but the FDA says it will be much sooner than that and there are a lot of people arguing that they should just approve it now and be done with it. It's a reasonable argument (especially given their other recent approval decision): these vaccines have to be the most tested experimental medicine in existence with literally hundreds of millions of people of nearly all kinds (the only exception being children) already having had the full treatment and they clearly work very well with serious side effects being exceedingly rare. I think the FDA is going to wait a little longer simply to be able to say that they weren't rushed, but sooner or later they will give the approval and then there will be mandates.

So not Greene, who was campaigning for a spot?

I don't think Greene or Gaetz ever really had a shot. It was probably always going to be either Scalise or Jordan headlining the Republicans side. Going with the latter suggests that McCarthy wants to make this a real sideshow.

It was always going to be Jordan.  It's what he does.  He passed up a shot at the Senate to continue as the House GOP's designated Biggest Douche in the Universe.

He'll never beat out Gaetz for that title.

Now in a Gaetz v. Cruz match, Idk who comes out as the champ.

He will in terms of the leadership putting him in the primetime positions to douche it up.
