They knew the war was lost. Also, the Freys took a bunch of hostages from many houses, which make them hard to rebel. See, how Black Walder subdued Seagard. The Blackfish saw that and understood that Edmure was dead no matter what, so the Freys and Lannisters had no leverage and he could hold Riverrun for a very long time. As long as he was there the rebellion was not done. With Stannis in the North and still holding Dragonstone and Storm's End, it might have been even possible to look for an alliance. nyser1 Posted August 1, 2021 Share Posted August 1, 2021 -The Riverlands have been devastated by the war. -They were already fragmented power wise by Edmure allowing them to go home & weak Tully rule. -Primary loyalist (to Robb) lords and their forces have been captured, crippled, killed, or scattered. -The most powerful single Riverlands house (Frey) has joined the opposing faction. Everyone not affected by the Red Wedding went back home. They are back in the towns, villages, and farms, and aren't going to be reconstituted into anything resembling an army. Some of them might join or help the BwB, which also seems to be what the Blackfish is likely to do as well.
